Ok, so the red face is not nice, but it is a great attention getter.  This is VERY important:

Everyone should permanently delete old emails regularly.  If you don't think old emails can come back and bite you in the ass, you are wrong.

Especially the ladies.  Permanently delete old emails with the gents information in them.

AND especially the men.  Permanently delete old emails with the ladies information in them.

If you think nothing will ever happen to you, you might be mistaken.  How about making SURE there is nothing that can harm you further kist in case...  Permanently delete old emails.

That's my message for today.  Happy Sunday everyone.  Stay safe.

While deleting emails and girlie pics from your hard drive is a good idea on a regular/daily basis. Just like running your virus scanner daily. Know that Big Brother can undelete those messages and pictures if they have access to your computer.  I have seen it done.

There are also Key Stroke programs that can be loaded to your machine in person or sent while you are not watching. It will record your every word typed and send it to who ever asked for it.

Then again, all emails and message traffic is stored in the ether by the companies you use to transfer the data back and forth. So if someone has a court order, they can get transcripts of every thing you do on the internet.  We are living the Big Brother World.

There are camera's in stores, malls, parking lots, nannycams in teddy bears and fire sprinklers, Hotel front desks, elevators, hallways. You are being watched if they want to put it together.

Let he who casts the first stone also be stoned.

ARE out to get you..

If anybody REALLY wants to get something on somebody, then yes, there are ways to do that.
But to prevent the EASY "Let's see what we have here.." look to anyone just taking a quick look at either a phone or a PC, why make it easy for them? Why NOT delete your emails. texts, recently dialed numbers, your trip history in your GPS?

Give them something obvious to find and then they'll look deeper. Sometimes a glance at the easy stuff will not show anything and they might just move on.

Sometimes you're screwed no matter what you do, but at least make whoever is looking WORK for it. There's always the chnce they won't take the time, expense or trouble to look deeper..

Just saying...

there is no need for anyone to leave private data lying about as a low hanging fruit for any snoop.

there are also secure erase routines that make retrieval of erased data by over writing bitwise the 1s and 0s each with many 1s and 0s. that makes retrieval of the data very expensive if not impossible.

there are no absolute guearantees. all security measures are simply designed to make the intruder pay a price, hopefully a price that is too high.

Which makes every girls ad that posts "your information is safe with me" a total crock of shit. Do they all encrypt the whole hard drive on their laptop? No. Do they even use any over-write program? No. Do they even know what any of that means? No.  Deleting your emails does very little, just moves the pointers on the hard drive. BCWipe helps with that, over-writing all unused space (where your "deleted" files are stored). Full drive encryption is the only way to go, but I doubt anyone here uses it.

I went to the BCWipe website and downloaded the program.  Now I just need to figure out how to use it!  lol

As for full drive encryption.  I don't use it, but plan to now!
