There's a whole spectrum of reasons for fake adds, from legitimate providers using "representative photos" to protect their identities, (note, not saying this is "acceptable"), to B&S of various degrees, to full fledged rip-offs where you are actually in some degree of danger, to an LE sting.
The scammers are betting on you thinking with your little brain instead of your big brain even when the ad is clearly TGTBT, and again with the "ok, as long as I'm here, might as well give it a shot..." response when the girl in the pictures does not answer the door. Best practice is to avoid the TGTBT ads in the first place. Making the right decision with the little brain screaming at you is much more difficult in practice than in theory. I tend to be extremely cautious and almost never see a provider that isn't reviewed, other than going to the occasional AMP. I most always do my homework and if there aren't reviews, I don't see the person.
With that said, I've often wondered, what the purpose of the fake ads on like Eros are? Is it girls just scamming guys? If so, when the guy shows up and it's not the girl in the photo, wouldn't the large majority leave? Is it LE?
1. Girl demands id and donation. She takes down your driver's license info, takes money, and sends the info to her boss over a phone call. She may also make you sign some legal shit. After that, you can't do anything to her and she would threaten to expose/report you otherwise. You have no choice but to leave or glare at her for appointed time. She may elect to call in her bodyguard or use your info for more extortion.
