I am visiting the city for the week and am interesting in seeing a few different ladies while I am here. While I have many provider refs from San Diego it seems the ladies here are really concerned with employer info which isn't something I am comfortable sharing.

Obviously safety is a must, and the ladies need to do whatever makes them most comfortable. I'm just curious why employer info is a must for a lady to see a hobbyist who has several independant provider refs?

Apparently in and around DC there has been a lot of recent LE activities and providers have been compromised (So to say), so the current providers ask for employment information to make sure you are not LE. Couple of times I was asked the question and provided the information, the employment check was very discreet and I work in a highly secured and regulated work place.

Also apparently that is why some of the providers don't take agencies for references since they are worried LE might slip through.

I can not and will not give out info related to my employment...If that is a deal breaker...I mean if years on the boards...tons of reviews under my belt and plenty of willing references is not sufficient, then I must take a pass and see someone else. And, the sad fact is , if LE is targrting someone , the easiest and most common thing for them to do is create a fake number and name for employment.  I always encouage ladies to check the hell outta references, but be wary of employment info.

I agree with STP. I've never felt comfortable giving Job Info, but I have plenty of references.

I can understand the provider asking If your a complete newb and no references. But oh well

I agree.. How many times have we seen Law and Order or other cop shows answering their 'burn cell phone' "Bombastic Enterprises"..

If LE wants to target someone, a work reference is probably one of the weakest ways to identify someone.  And a strong review presence on here is probably the strongest.  Who can argue with lots of reviews on here spanning months or years?

because like many gents in the DC area I am working under a confidentiality agreement.

Providers who will not see gents without employment verification are cutting themselves off from a clientele who are earning at minimum supergrade salaries, and are relatively recession proof.

It takes only a few minutes to set up a phony work reference.

It takes a real investment in the hobby to have a significant and sustained board presence and to write a lot of reviews.

I'm not talking 800 reviews either. I consider my 48 in the last 15 months to be more than adequate testimony to my worthiness as a client and my disposable income. Add to that a diamond level Date Check membership, P411 and lotsa enthusiastic references.

If that's not good enough, I'll gladly see someone else.

But my question is for the guys who provide it: are you friggin' crazy? All discretion and good intentions on the part of the ladies aside, that is information that you simply don't want out there under any circumstances. The ladies won't tell you where THEY, work, right? Why should you tell them where YOU work? Apparently there are enough out there who do, as there are several providers in the area who demand your work info and are very busy and very popular. More power to them I guess.

and is not as bullet proof as many providers seem to think.  For a very minimal outlay in time and money I can produce a business front.

Guess what? It costs LE even less. They've already got someone to answer the phones and play receptionist lol

It's not my employment that gives me problems it's the independent references.

Since 2004, I've seen roughly 15 independents.  Of those 15 probably more than half are retired now.  Of those left, there are only 2 or 3 that I still see.

Of those 2 or 3, most will want to know why I haven't seen them in a while before they'll provide a reference for me.

So it's not that simple to get independent references.  And, since independents won't accept the word of an agency, you're screwed.

Personally, I do not like bringing a 3rd party (reference) into what should be private between 2 consenting adults.  I am uncomfortable placing my safety in ladies I am unfamiliar with as well.  

I think I have a pretty decent reputation that my gentleman friends know I will always put discretion above all.  For these reasons, I prefer the employment info.

As another posted mentioned, the ladies have every right to ask for whatever info they see fit...agreed. However I have to assume a good portion of upper level wage earners are not going to give out that info. I understand and truely belive that most providers themsleves believe they would never give up client info, however when push comes to shove and it means getting a deal should they ever get pinched, I don't want my name and employment info in a providers little black book. I don't think Elliot Spitzer or other well known public figures ever thought they would end up on the cover of magazines for their exploits but we see it all the time.

In any case...I agree with the majority of what the other guys have said; very easy to make up a buisness, not so easy to have a long history of reviews and provider references.

I absolutely agree.  I had one person "discretely" checking and the it was completely not discrete.  The secretary got call and fortunately thought it was a recruiter and I was looking for a new job.  I told her I was thinking of buying a rental property and the real estate was new.  I asked for number and she said it did not show up on Caller ID and she told caller that they only gave information when the caller provided a fax with release form signed by employee.

Never give it out - it is easily faked and there other women who do not require it.
