They didn't win.. They eked out a win..I watched the whole game and turned off in last 30 seconds. I was dead sure they were going to lose and go home.. It wasn't until this morning that I realized that they actually did pull a win..

It sucks to make a date, travel 3 hours to get there, be sitting on "go", with a cold bottle of Champagne, and have the date fail to go through.  Too late to make alternate arrangements, (what with the need to verify and all), and no back up "go to" lady to call.  And anyway,  what lady wants a last minute call when she knows that she was "Plan B"?  

So it's back in the car and three hours home.  In the rain.

Get verified by a reputable agency. Last minute appointments typically fit most of the agencies' business model..

And FWIW, trust me.. A provider is not going to feel offended if she finds out that she was a Plan B, just like I wouldn't care if a prospective employer hired me after the job was turned down by someone else before I accepted it.. That being said, why you have to tell anyone that they are Plan B is simply beyond my comprehension...

Thanks for the valuable advice.  Yes, she is well reviewed, and was very apologetic.  Shit happens, it's true.  Last week I had to cancel with another lady two hours early because of an issue with a family member that needed immediate attention.  We rescheduled for the next day and had a great time.  I hold no grudge there.

Agencies?  I had great rapport with several in DC and they all went away in suspicious circumstances.  (I still get an erection every time I am near Eastern Market!)  You are correct; I need to get over my concerns about security and get established with some new ones. The problem with these last-minute changes in plans is that it usually takes several hours at least to set up a new date in an entirely new location, and it is sometimes difficult to fit it in.  (Try getting from Dupont Circle to Tysons at 4 pm on a weekday).  

We do this for the great experiences.  Even when you have to kiss a few frogs, the chance to meet the princess is worth it.

I am here and a professional. If your refs check out I have no problem taking you in. ;-) I gained a wonderful regular thanks to another provider flaking out. So you never know!!! It is always at least worth a try.

Plan B's work. Have been stood up on 2 occasions and went online to find an alternate. Ended up as a regular with both wonderful ladies. Ladies don't mind at all, they are happy that you thought of them even as an alternative.

Sort of like when your craving choc cake, but you only have some sugar free jello pudding in the house and you eat that, but your still not satisfied so then you get pissed cause you spent so much.......yadda yadda yadda

At what point in the day did the provider know that she was not going to be able to meet with you - for whatever reason?  

Seems to me that before I get into my car and travel 3 hours (or any amount of time/distance) I am going to confirm that the date is still 'on'.  Once confirmed prior to departure and if something were to happen to either party in the interim, then it is the responsibility of the party having to cancel to communicate that as soon as possible.

Certainly there are extenuating circumstances that would even prevent that but certainly I would not be upset to be cancelled upon if the reason were due to a serious incident occuring...

Sorry for the time and effort you wasted on the trip :(

Good question.  She claimed to have sent me a text message earlier in the day.  It was not received, although I received all of her other text messages leading up to the date.  She sent me an email one hour before the appointed time.  I was using my hobby phone (text and voice only), and was unable to retrieve emails until I arrived on location.  So, I found out as I was parking the car.

The date was clearly confirmed the prior evening.  No further communications were received until the appointed hour.  She also was traveling prior to the appointment, so there was no reason to expect a message from her.

Anyway, I'm over it.  No hard feelings.  I used the $350 to buy a case of decent Cotes-du-Rhone, vintage 2010.  I will be enjoying it for the years to come, while the memory of the wasted trip will be long forgotten.
