So, you're visiting a lovely woman.  You park, get confirmation of room #/apt #.  Then, you get out of your car & walk into the hotel or apartment building....   At this point, I turn off my cell, but I've always pretended to be on my cell walking up, to discourage any hotel employees or randoms from talking to me.  I figure I'm more discreet if I don't have to talk to anybody.

(2) I do whatever the lady asks, to keep her comfortable with the situation.  (3) Half the world walks around talking on cell phones, including in the street, the supermarket, the fucking movie theater.  Wouldn't seem to draw attention, but maybe your lady had an incident and reacted.

In my experience and per previous threads on TER......talking on cell phone while in hotel lobby and entering elevator can ATTRACT attention specific to you being a potential John as some hotel stings include the front desk clerks and hotel security instructed to look for signs of Johns and Providers i.e. cell phone chatters in lobby.  The premise being the John is getting the call to come up to room.

Some guy probably recently repeated her room number back loudly by voice in her lobby. Does it really matter why? Do whatever makes her comfortable. We all have little ways about things to feel secure. Hotels they would go out of business if they started questioning every guest who came through walk in like you own it.

Maybe it's because I'm in hotels so often. While I'm certainly not cavalier about it, I call or text/email as needed. I've stopped in the hallway to send an e-mail many times when staying at a hotel and had people walk past me, I often wonder what they think I'm doing....I know what I think when I see it! But of course I don't worry about it because I'm not doing anything illegal...so I don't worry about it when I'm visiting a provider either.

SOP you must set a PIN to access the phone.  LE can monkey around with the phone either legally or illegally, but the odds are lower that they will call in a code breaker for a misdemeanor.
