There's no higher risk either way. If you do your research on the provider, as we screen you all the hobbyist there should be no issue honey. Check reviews, photos, sites, posts, etc.

Metaphorically speaking: "You're coming at this equation in a way that limits the number of answers."
Fantasy Client Screening studies things like this on a national level and the "answers" actually change regionally and then by "how" you measure it.
In your case, let's come at it this way. Incall / outcall is NOT the problem it is actually a symptom. One trying to get off cheap, going with a provider who is too easily accessible, has no reputation, too good to be true off of CL or BackP.
How you select your provider is more important to your safety than where. Poor choices here blows your statistical probability of the core basis of your question through the roof.
The truth is in the MD-DC-VA area they can get you either way.
As a side note, providers who do incalls in their homes or apartments (permanent incall locations) are asking for trouble and in my 'opinion' which is formed by the preponderance of evidence it's a bad idea. You might want to consider that as one of your factors....or not
Finally, since your consciousness it focused on risk below is one of my blog postings which you may or may not find useful.
