Cancelling an appointment with a provider - any protocol?

OK, I just recently had to cancel with a provider. I felt bad because (aside from really wanting to see her), she made a (albeit slight) accommodation in her schedule for me.

I waited until I was sure I needed to cancel but wanted to give at least a days notice, and I offered to comp half of her rate for her room and some expenses.

Any typical protocol for what folks do in this situation or what the ladies prefer? I would never NCNS, unless I was in the hospital or something similarly problematic.

Thanks

What you did was right IMHO. I don't think there is a specific protocal. If you to have cancel, then we always want to let them know asap. and compensate them if needed.

Always let the provider know ASAP ... but me thinks a day's notice is essential and welcome.  When it is a touring provider, several days as she may want to adjust her travel schedule in response.
