I get so many random e-mails (even with my lack of advertising), but I got this one today.

Good afternoon Vanica,

        My name is {name withheld}.  I was interested in meeting you.  I wasn't sure if you were
        currently  in the DC area or not.  If so, I would love to meet you.

        If you accept date-check, my ID is XXXXXX.  I'm also on TER under {his handle}.

        Looking forward to it,
        Thank you,
        {name withheld}

Even better he is whitelisted by a friend of mine. Lucky bastard, I know she's a dynamo, and I can't be outdone. :-)

The ladies should take note as well when responding to the gentlemen. It works both ways.
Just my .02

If a guy e-mails me, I am guessing he already knows who I am, my stats and so forth. Not sure what extra info I would need to provide if not asked a direct question.

We've never talked before so I don't know how you respond to emails and I agree that the example you posted should be used to break the ice and I provide the same information when I contact a lady. Unfortunately, what I get in return does not come close to a courteous response. Just a little communication beyond "yes, call me" or no response at all would be nice.

I'd be happy with something like;

Thanks for contacting me, let’s set something up. Please call me between 8 & 9.

Or

Thanks for your mail but I'm busy, not able to meet, etc.....

I know how overwhelming email can be. I get buried in it every day but I always respond to my customers. After all, without them I have no business. Isn't the same true here?

...what is wrong with the gentleman's inquiry?  He wanted to know if you were in town and currently available.  If yes, I am sure he will send more references and arrange for an appt?

I am not a newbie but my "intro" email to a new provider would be similar.  I just don't understand this post and the comments (sarcastic) from others.

Not meaning to stir trouble but could someone elaborate please?

I can't interpret Vanica's response here, but I viewed it as complimentary in nature.  In other words, a short email from a gentleman suitor laying out his verification information is exactly what providers want ... as opposed to 20 questions on items that could be answered just by looking at her website.

However, I don't believe in sharing your TER ID.  There is no reason for a provider to know that and it compromises your ability to provide an honest, unvarnished review.

...you are a spineless chicken.  These women realize that they aren't going to be the right match for everyone.  Some reviews are just naturally going to be better than others.  If your experience was that bad, give an honest review.  After all, you aren't likely to want to go back, anyway.  If your style is to give harsh, somewhat unfair reviews, then that "ability" should be compromised.

I agree but you still have to be careful as an unscrupulous provider has ways to retaliate beyond a follow up visit.  I would have no problem providing my TER ID to a well regarded lady such as Vanica, but in other circumstances I might be less inclined.

You can check my reviews to determine if they are fair.  I believe they are.  However, twice in past years, a provider contacted me to ream me out for my review of her.  While neither threatened any retaliation, such reaction is what convinces me I am better off if only I know what my TER ID is.

Take a another look at the subject of the post "Best E-mail all month - Take notes newbies".  Vanica was using this as a positive example of how to communicate with a lady you want to see for the first time.

Doh!  Nevermind, I totally misinterpreted the email comment!

Now you got me wondering what I stated in my initial email back when
Next time I ask a question via email I should include a song
LOL

I wonder what I have to do to get "white listed". Maybe my performance is is lacking. I guess I will have to pick up my game huh? LOL! Ill see you upon my return from Qatar in hopes you can assist me in working on my game! Muah!

That really is a great email, makes the process much faster and easier when the needed information is given up front.

I prefer to check references before any discussion takes place generally, one can never be too careful.
