I belonged another board that had a serious alias problem and even tho I was "Typhoid Mary" on that board I never hid behind a fake name......well, at least until I got booted for life. Then I made a few visits under different names by necessity.
-Present opposing points of view without appearing wishy-washy -Participate in discussions without people having preconceived ideas about you -Ask stupid questions without appearing stupid -Troll or post flames -Fabricate stories -Leak information about other people -Gives you a sense of privacy -Protect your views and business from your career
I am sure there are more. I got that list from googling "pros and cons of using an alias".

I like that mentality; I would never let some newbie puff their chest and tell me what I can or cannot say, especially if they're my opinions. Although I keep all my posts appropriate and non-offensive, I can't stand it when someone has the urge to make some snarky or smart ass remark just because they think it's OK. We should all maintain some type of professional courtesy; we're all in this hobby together and we should be watching each others backs, and make this enjoyable for everybody.
