BBBJ / CBJ

This is follow-on to a thread last week on the economics of the business, but I'm going off on a new tangent here.

At one point, wrps07 asked jenniferjonesdc if she would charge the same rate if she did not offer BBBJ, and she implied she would probably lower her rate in that case given what the competition offers.

I have to admit that the emphasis on BBBJs in the business gives me pause. Why do hobbyists, who are generally risk-averse, insist on BBBJs, and why do providers comply, given that the numbers seem not to be on their side?  Am I alarmist, or are the risks not generally well known?

K.

For those who want the background on this:
==============

I guess it was all sparked by an item in the New Yorker last fall:
  http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2012/10/01/121001fa_fact_groopman
about the rise of drug-resistant gonorrhea, and that unprotected oral sex is a major transmission vector.

I thought I should educate myself a bit more this evening, and there's some good background material on oral gonorrhea at Jezebel.com:
  http://jezebel.com/5946480/rethinking-the-blow-job-condoms-or-gonorrhea-take-your-pick
which helpfully includes tips on how to make CBJs more stimulating.

Also, Planned Parenthood has some info, although it might be on the alarmist side:

On the hard numbers, here's some research articles courtesy of PubMed:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22875839:  17 of 372 sex workers in Sydney who practiced 'inconsistent' use of condoms during oral sex had oral gonorrhea (4.5%).

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23191956: 22% of Adult Film Industry performers had asymptomatic oral gonorrhe

"I have been sucking bare cocks for over 20 years and I never caught a disease from doing it!"

Just sayin'!

Happy Hump Day! :P

I was gonna make an appt today, but now I guess I will just watch some
porn, on second thought maybe I'll settle for a CBJ.  There are always risks
in everything you do in life, is it gonna be like the the movie with Bullock
and Stallone. Oh no, in the future we dont exchange body fluids.  What a
depressing thing to think about.

People here tend to condemn BBFS but encourages BBBJ, and TER encourages it. Go figure.

As for me, I never refuse BBBJ, nor do I ask for it. For ladies that I know well, I talk to them about the risk of BBBJ. Most of them understand it, some want to stop doing it. It is difficult when so many johns demand it. I guess we'll just chalk it up as an occupational hazard.

"but the STI is actually way more likely to get passed onto others via the throat, particularly through blow jobs. (Kissing and cunnilingus don't spread it because saliva contains enzymes that destroy gonorrhea. Thanks, saliva.) "

I read that and some other info that bbbj isn't the main culprit here, but CIM and swallowing is... bbbj is alright, if finished not CIM (ie somewhere else)... which, is also really fun and cool, too!

Good point, I didn't read that closet enough. !
