It is very sad!!  Something has to stop!!  Something has to give.  What happened to duking it out after school?  Why the need for guns.  I cried because that could have been my friend...my brother...cousin.  Is it the media...music...goevrnment...I do not know.  I will say this though...next week the attention will reduce and this will be a dead issue (sorry...no pun intended)

Everyone is blaming the school, the police, the government....where are the parents of the kids with the machine guns in their sweatshirts???

This is exactly what I think.  The mayor and other officials graciously go over there and listen to the parents of the community yell at them about what they didn't do.  The same thing is ongoing about the schools.  But ultimately, responsibility for what a child chooses to do goes back the child's parents or whoever is supposed to be the child's guardian.  If you can't handle the job, you shouldn't be having children.  Metal detectors and police officers guarding a school should not be necessary.  I think there needs to be stiffer penalties for parents who refuse to control their children.  If the parent feels the child is out of his/her control, perhaps they should consider passing the child to an institution that will control it before something serious happens.

I couldn't agree more.  When did people start having so little value for the lives of others?  What has changed?  Who knows?  What has changed to correct it?  Absolutely NOTHING as far as I can see.

It is sad, but I try and keep it in perspective and realize that it is certainly not the majority of people that act that way, it just seems that the media enjoys showing us all of the gloom and doom and really digging into it, therfor giving the impression that all is bad.  Just tell me what happened and move on, I don't need to see a blood stain or a body bag.  All I can say for now is to be aware of the dangers and try to stay safe.

Take Care

Here's the thing: we live in a country where there are varying levels of respect for human life.  I believe that if you have more to live for then you will place a more value on your life and the lives of others.  Economics, education and faith play a large part in this.  The media, in general, are operated by and populated with people who place a higher value on life than many others.  So the tragedies are reported in a way to say, "Look what is happening.  These are the facts."  And we are sad, shocked, appalled, angered, but 90% of us just continue on with our lives, never thinking that we could help these kids.
