Bad encounter with two agencies

last week I tried to setup a time with classydc, did the form thing, did the call thing, and then they kept asking me for my TER handle. I refused to give it to them as

a. I don't really write reviews
b. I like my privacy
c. I heard the agencies would from then on watch you on the board

so guess what? ClassyDC is not that classy, they refused to setup a time for me to meet with one of their girls even though I had passed everything.

So I told myself, maybe they are being too restrictive and tried it with PrimeDC and guess what, same thing happened to me.

What is it with these agencies, why are they so much into making sure a hobbiest writes good reviews for them or else

also SHAME on the hobbiest out there who fall into their trap and write unrealistic reviews to be on their good side.

No more agencies for me, back to indy!

That's your choice and you're free to make it, but your post here raises at least two questions.

1.  Why hide behind an alias if you have decided not to book with agencies?  If you aren't going to give them any more business, who cares if they put you on their DNS list?

2.  Why not just play dumb and claim you don't have a TER handle?  If you don't write reviews, that is barely even a lie.

Agree with Earnest and I had a great experience (actually 2) great experiences with Classy DC last week, and did not experiene the problem you describe.

Posts written using an alias usually are agenda driven; consequently they lack credibility and should be ignored. IMO they likely are written by jealous competitors or hobbyists with some special axe to grind.

by posting this under his real TER identity then the two agencies would know who he is.  And now his TER identity is known.

yes, he is correct that these agencies monitor this board for comments, minis and reviews...

I don't disagree, db911. However, I think you will agree that if you have strength of conviction, you should have the balls to admit who you are. As it is, using an alias gives everyone the right to take a cheap shot whether warranted or not, and I have been on the receiving end of such comments.

the ladies are in a very vulnerable position. Your other information may have shown that you are not LE. Your TER handle, which links to your board posts and reviews, is one of the better ways to make sure that you are not abusive or disrespectful to the women who have to endure your company.

This business runs on trust - the providers / agencies trust. They are the ones in a vulnerable position, the ones taking the major risks.

YOU have access to the providers (agency or indie) reviews, to determine if they are safe and if they provide a level of service that pleases you.

THEY are entitled to reciprocal access.

Your comment about "unrealistic reviews" tells me that your post is agenda driven. How would you know that the reviews are "unrealistic" if you have not seen any of the girls about whom the reviews are written?

YOU need to understand how to use the review system. YOU need to understand that taste with respect to apperance is extremely variable. YOU need to understand that performance VARIES with EVERY provider / client interraction.

AND you need to understand that the great majority of "YMMV" is due to client side factors.

rather merely pointing out faulty thinking.

Why the alias use then? After all, I would get browny points with the agencies in question and many other providers for a post like this.

I'll leave it to others to guess.....

but I get damned tired of those who lack the intellectual vigor to debate a point, who realize that they are totally skewered, and try to deflect the issue by whining about "aliases".

I'm not saying they don't do this now but when I was screened for both a few months ago than neither asked anything.

Does that mean that every new client they take must have a TER handle because I always assumed that TER members while still significant but still a minority of the business and reviewers are a subset of that.

I only write reviews for new or people with less than 5 reviews unless my review would be an outlier.

To each their own, but I've had nothing but positive experiences with Classy. Not looking for brownie points here at all, just didn't want your post to be read by new folks to the hobby and be taken as a sign that it's hard to book with Classy or they are overly invasive.

Besides you admittedly don't write reviews, who cares if they know your alias? It's not like you are helping or hurting their cause by not giving back to the community which you take from.

I would definitely agree. Trust and respect are both ways for sure in this business.

hidingfromagency is, how do I put it nicely.... Stupid? I have posted some 7's with both agencies, and gotten some flack, but neither have blacklisted me. Although I don't agree with some of the aspects of the biz (photoshopping, shills, etc), had hiding done his homework, he wouldn't have to post this crap. Not that there's anything wrong with indies, but good luck playing at the craps table John Doe.

I'm amused how this has digressed into the two very different topics. One on aliases and the other on using online information for screening.

On aliases: I've been lurking quietly on TER for some time now so I do have an understanding of how the alias system works.
I don't disagree that others are more likely to perceive someone has having a hidden agenda if they use an alias. I agree with those of you that have said that using an alias opens the user up to having their credibility attacked.
However, I can see the advantages and usefulness to having one and using it in certain discussions. In this case, the OP doesn't want to out himself to the agency he tried to use. Perfectly rational considering that, in my experience, agencies do look user information and reviews from clients that they know are on certain boards.

On using online information in screening: I'm basically going to quote Repudiation on this one. TER handles can be used in screening to not only prove that you aren't LE but also to simply figure out a person's character and personality. In some cases, providers can get a better idea of what a client is seeking through their reviews.

Let's be clear here and understand that this isn't just "an agency thing". There are independents who pull similar stunts.

Just my thoughts on things...

they read my reviews and give me shit about my scores.  I know plenty of guys on this board who will change their mini scores after posting and being pressured by the agency.

to the ladies of a few local agencies. Sorry to do it to any lady. I took some time to contemplate it but could reach no other conclusion.

I received no comment at all, and these agencies continue to show me the utmost respect and on occasion go out of their way to accomodate me.

No one cares about your TER handle as long as we can verify you. We sometimes ask clients that have alot of reviews who do not want to give there personal info to PM us through TER so we can verify them that way.

In your case, you don't have any reviews so your TER handle is useless to us so provide us with the accurate personal info so we can verify you and we will be able to make an appt for you. Thanks
