...I'm glad the politicians have their priorities in order.  Going after johns is certainly more important than other lingering problems like Osama still on the loose, New Orleans in shambles, people out of work...

On some kind of state of emergency? If thats the case shouldnt they be looking into the daily homicides and never ending robberies ect??

This is so government. They will spend taxpayers money chasing down victimless crimes while they ignore illegal workers and even establish a place for them to gather in Herndon, Va. as well as other places. I just do not understand where the priorities are set. With all the press regarding the illegals complete with location, why doesn't the Immigration department just drive over and arrest all non documented individuals and deport them. This seems easier than setting up sting operations to capture john's and providers. I know it is different officies of the government working these cases but just the same principle in action.  This is again another reminder for us hobbiests to use only well reviewed and established providers for our own safety.
Just my .02 for what it is worth.

Obviously prostitution will never be wiped out. But those at risk include providers careless enough not to insist on references or some means of verification, and hobbyists careless/stupid enough to go after providers with no reviews or history.  The picture in the WP shows some poor guy being picked up after (presumedly) soliciting a streetwalker! Just plain dumb, given today's internet resources.  That's what makes TER such a great resource! But also, based on personal experience, providers that ask for references don't always check them. I've had a few instances when I see someone new and ask her whether she checked my references, I get an evasive or unlikely answer (e.g. she sent an email when I know the reference I gave doesn't give out an email address!). And when I subsequently see the provider I used as a reference, she has no recollection of being contacted. Ladies, please don't be careless!

You can follow the links and see what the bill is about. Read the bill there is going to be funding for the use of female decoys, tax evasion prosecutions, surveillance, and publication of names and addresses of John's and pimps arrested for repeat offenses.

Just when Im ready to try to calm everyone down by pointing out the primary thrust of the WP article seemed to be the truly inhuman child and slave underage sextrade being carried out around the world, I get linked to the bill by Scared Straight. The wording does lend itself to the possiblities of all hell breaking loose if Deputy Dog and Inspector Clueseau are so inclined. I really believe that is not the primary modivation for all those groups getting together BUT it is a possibility. Several times it has been stated by some, supposedly in the know, LE, especially in DC, has bigger fish to fry. I'll guess we will see. Lets hope pragmatism and deployment of assets will enter the equation somewhere along the line here.

If you take a look at the bill sponsors it is not the whole house. Makes you wonder if the other reps are clients of providers. Also if you read the post article you will some in the justice department think that this is a local issue.

Isn't enough to excite the hundreds if not thousands of LE agencies.. It's the political principle - do nothing - look bad - do something - your saved.. So, it is my thought they will focus on sure bets - the AMP's..

Of course they will hit them and make a public statement of having cleaned up - only to be overturned in court for failing to follow policy or protocol and allowing them to reopen the next day..

I've always watch over my shoulder - but complacency from having dodge the bullet many times before might have caused me to miss something the next time. This is just a wake up call for me.. Thanks for making it a public statement so we can all work on our awareness level... It’s far worse when they plan this stuff behind the scenes and then make it public. Guess this was the best way to help out all the law makers, politicians, and LE that use the services of sex workers – stop now or shame on you…

I agree with helping out those who are abused or sold into this type of work. I also agree they should help those who are under age and being abused. I also agree with out reach programs to help those who wish to find other work or safe haven from those who have forced them into this type of work… Even if they focused on those – 25m wouldn’t be enough to make a difference. But hey, if they have it to pass around, I’m sure no one will turn it away.

If you look at the groups involved it all fits their agenda, especially the feminists and the Right wing conservatives.  Their agenda is that Sex is bad.  Unfortunately you know that the right wing men in DC can afford to go to their "mistresses" and avoid all this.

Sucks to be the common man nowadays...

Funny, boys have been selling their mouths and asses for as long as girls, but they only worry about the girls because they present a more sympathetic picture. As per norm, people are only worried about 'cute' victims.

The politicians are equal to the pimps, exploiting others for thier own agenda....

Seems like there could be more impetus to this whole thing if it received the "force of congress" behind it.  Except for "kiddie porn", US law enforcement has stayed out of the AEI issue and left it strictly a local issue enforced by local authorities (per the Supreme Court decision on the matter).

With juvenile porn and adult contacts of juveniles, we are (of course) talking an entirely unique matter.  In that area, Federal and Local LE have actively persued internet crime units.

Could such federal internet units enter the purely AEI NOT involving juveniles?  Could local LE take a more active internet presence than they all ready have?  Logic would say that LE doesn't have the resource to persue what it all ready is, muchless more internet intervention.  However with Congress in the picture, and US Code on the matter, who knows?  Seems like this should be DOA anyway on the federal level due to the SC decision.  However in practice with a new law on the books, LE would probably go "gung ho" FIRST and let the legislation go through the courts later.  I find this whole matter very disturbing.  Typical "W" stuff greatly broadening "big brother's" influence.
