If you only had a few hours in DC, which attraction would you visit?regular_smile

I’m visiting near DC later this month with a girlfriend, and I saw our hotel is near the silver line of y’all’s public transport (which, by the way, I must say how impressive and expansive the public transportation is up there compared to Atlanta). I was thinking if I had some time while I’m up there, I should ride into our beautiful country’s capital to visit an attraction. I enjoy history & art (and nerdy stuff in general). So, what’s the one place that you would take a visiting friend, if you only had a few hours? Anything I should know about the public transportation?

As an aside, where’s the good Indian food in Tysons? Y’all know what I’m talking about; aunties and uncles in the restaurant won’t be bothered if I don’t use a fork.  And, which local beer should I buy? I like fruity IPAs, Belgian, and scotch ales…high gravity stuff.

Thanks in advance for your insight!

You really don't get as much being limited to the metro, but it does stop by arlington cemetery.   Iwo jima is a short walk from the rosslyn stop, do not try to go to pentagon as they are not open to public.  The national mall is where you can see the lincoln, pool, viet, korean, mlk, wwii.  I believe the air and spce in dc is under renovation but udvar hazy (sister museum) in dulles is by far my favorite.  You have spy museum, nat geo, and about a dozen Smithsonian places....it literally could take weeks! Lol. Just pick one and make the full effort.  Also just imho

Hey love, the National Gallery of Art is one of my favorites and it is free to go. I have been several times and I always love it. Have a blast on your trip!

I recommend the Smithsonian National Museum of American History as well as the National Museum of Natural History.

Both easily accessible by Metro on the National Mall area.

enough for couple hours. The Smithsonian's are way too big and all over the area
