First, I am NOT the dude who ripped her off. Second,  I apologize to you Farrah on behalf of the DMV gentlemen for having gone through what you did. Third, I do ask that you please do not judge the DC area's men by their criminals.

Now with that out of the way I want to ask the guys of DC a couple questions about money.

1. Have you ever held it against a provider in a review because she opened the envelope and counted the money during the appointment?

2. What would be an opportune time or situation for the provider to check the envelope's contents in a discreet way?

3. How do you feel about a provider who asks for a deposit before the appointment?

4. Apparently this was not an isolated event. I have heard from other girls that DC is not too high on their priority list due to the amount of NCNS and getting ripped off. What can we do to change DC's image and get more girls to tour here? Or in this case get certain girls to return?

These questions are intended for DC's guys but the Girl's answers/opinions/suggestions are more than welcome.

Answers to your questions:

1. No, I have never been offended by a provider who open the envelope and counted the money during the appointment.

2. Most providers will ask me to put the envelope or donation in the restroom upon arrival. That way, they can "discreetly" check the donation

3. I do not do deposits but will pay in full when I meet the provider

4. STPhomer had a thread several weeks ago and it was about why California had more variety than Washington D.C., and I think he summarized it well.

I think when someone invest a "large" amount of money into this hobby (either provider or hobbyist), then their standard of research and verification should be at a higher level. I am not offended when a provider ask me to place the donation in the restroom upon arrival and I think this method is the most discreet way to ensure that your donation is guaranteed.

If your investing over one thousand dollars, then it is even more important to ask the client to place the donation in the restroom for you to check it. It is part of your livelihood, why jeopardize it on assumptions? Assumptions can be very dangerous, and that is why you need a way to guaranteed your outcome.

1. No I never have, but it is a little tacky to count the money in front of someone.

2. Some providers ask that the gentleman leaves the envelope in the bathroom counter and then they excuse themselves, go to the bathroom and check the envelope.  

3. Don't like this one and won't do it, just as many time the ladies have been ripped off,

4. The only way to do this is to out the NCNS and rip off guys, but the problem here is
the guys can change their handles, phone#'s and anything else they need. So keeping
track of them is next to impossible.

1. Counting the donation: Does not apply to me. I follow the same routine when I arrive at an incall which is to set down the donation, and then say that I'm heading to the bathroom to rinse off. That gives the provider a few minutes to verify the contents of the envelope, and I make sure I'm freshened up from my long drive to Tysons or long metro ride to DC.

2. Discretely checking the donation: See #1, or she can say she needs to "freshen up" and takes the donation to the bathroom with her.

3. Deposits: Not a chance. I tried this once before I knew of TER, and after the deposit she became very difficult to get ahold of, kept asking for the deposit (which I had to remind her I already gave her), and the day we were supposed to meet she pulled a NCNS.

4. Changing DC's image: It's not up to us, nor is it something we can change. I can't affect how you hobby, so how can I do anything with a random user that never reviews or contributes to the boards? As STP pointed out, you'll get this kinda thing everywhere, and with proper screening and checking the donation (especially on a 3-hour date) this could have been avoided. Maybe it happens more in DC due to sheer population, and I can only guess that it doesn't happen to her in NY out of sheer chance. All I can do is be a good client who shows up sober and on time, pays what I'm supposed to, and leaves on time with no violence, creepy behavior, or drama.

I understand why she's angry, because it's very easy for a good run of luck to get soured because you finish on a really shitty note. But I also think it's a knee jerk reaction to write off DC because there was one negative experience in an otherwise profitable trip. Just like her, I read through reviews and there are no shortage of ripoff providers, but that doesn't mean I'll stop hobbying.

What would be an opportune time or situation for the provider to check the envelope's contents in a discreet way?  Answer:  I set the envelop on the first flat surface I see then excuse myself to freshen up.  I only had one provider check and move the envelop.  All others haven't touched it in my absence.

I've made this comment before.  I absolutely have no prob with a lady counting the money. I can think of no other business transaction in which this is not done. You can bet your ass I counted it when the teller at my bank handed it to me. It is not insulting in any way. Plus it prevents honest mistakes.
If a lady does not wish to check the donation in front of a client I'm pretty sure there are ways she can take a look inside the envelope in a discreet manor .

I know DC is bad about NCNS. And I think guys that do this really suck.  But I seriously doubt if this area is any worst than others for ripping babes off .
BTW...the kind of rip off Farrah experienced only occurs at incalls.  Since cities like LV tend to be 99% outcalls I suspect rip offs might be less there. Of course other problems are encountered there , but that is for another thread.

As far as deposits...in is not unusual to see a post on this board by dudes who have a hell of a time getting a deposit back from even well known Providers when for some reason the lady has to cancel. No way would I ever do a deposit.  

The key is, and I'm pretty sure Farrah did not do this, is to really check the references and history of a guy before you accept a multi hour appt.  Greed should never get in the way of proper protocol.

1) No. No more than I'd expect a cashier to get upset when I count my change. It rules out mistakes.

2) Most common is to count it while the gent is in the shower. Ladies should insist on the web pages and ads that
   the gentlemen leave gifts in the open before showering. And that a shower is mandatory!
   No need to fear a lit soap and water.

3) I hate carrying cash, so this works. Then again I'm single and don't have anyone supervising my spending.

4) Farrah did the right thing in calling the jerk out. Wish TER would do more to allow ladies to respond to such.
   Maybe we need a rip-off page for the ladies. Personally, I'd suggest taking a deposit on all multiple hour
   appointments. Possibly excluding regulars.

   There isn't much the honest gents can do here but carry on with their usual good behavior.
   Sadly it only takes a small minority to destroy any groups image.

Farrah may be lost to us. Its a shame but she has to act in hear on self interest. I simply wish her well.

First - YES, I once fucked up with a provider and yes, she outed me less than an hour after the appointment time.  I will still take care of her when she returns.  One bad date in sixty-ish is still one too many.  I have repented and been forgiven by most of the providers involved in that thread and that is greatly appreciated.

With that out of the way.

No but I understand why providers are sensitive to this.  I have seen it mentioned in negative terms in many a review and it is often referenced in terms of "back page girl type behavior".  I think that is bullshit.  That said, it affects their reputation only to the extent that a hobbyist would use this as a disqualifier and I have to think that is pretty rare.

I roughly categorize providers as lower-end non-GFE less than $300/hour.  Mid level and GFE and between $300-$500/hour.  Upper end, $500/hour and up.  I have one provider in the middle of  that middle category whom I have now seen three times, and she has taken the envelope into the bathroom to check it before each of the three dates.  It surprised me the first time only in that I had never before had the experience, and it bothered me marginally right up until....she had her clothes off.  If I am offended by anything at that point then I am clearly looking to be offended.

I have probably had a half dozen PMs from hobbyists asking for more details about that specific provider, and in each case I have "warned" them about this so that it does not create an uncomfortable moment for them when they visit her.

For a first date I am surprised that it isn't a requirement with all providers.  I think a $100 deposit is appropriate in this business, but of course logistics are are tricky.  On-line payments to providers are dicey in terms of the SO and also in terms of electronic trail for LE.  Yes - prepaid Visa cards and the such could help with this.

Having followed the DC ad board the past year, I think we are trying to solve a problem that we don't have in this regard.  I take a peek at the boards for other cities from time to time, and we our downright spoiled by our provider selection in DC.

1. I don't care if she opens the envelope and counts it. If that's what it takes for her to be comfortable then what's the harm? I’ve never mentioned it in a review.
2. I find it's best to drop it in plain sight and excuse myself so she can have a few minutes to check it out.
3. Never, even with the best planning things happen. I've read too many things about lost deposits to ever be comfortable with them. However, I have sent a fee when I've had to cancel at the last minute.
4. There are scum bags everywhere. It's not just the hobby or the DC area. Ask any business owner how much revenue is lost to non-payment. It's actually a line item on a company’s spread sheets (big or small) to account for lost revenue due to non-payment. You just have to do the best you can to protect yourself. And before anyone says that there are ways to go after people who don't pay their bills I can tell that you may get enough to break even if you’re lucky but most of the time the time effort required to go after them ends up costing more than it's worth and all that happens is you reduce your losses, but you still loose.
IMHO, DC is no better or worse than any other place and it’s too bad that we are getting a bad rap for something that happens everywhere.

1. Girls, please please please count the donation before you start your sessions; this is still a business, and you have to watch your own ass.  If a guy decides to give you a bad review just b/c you counted the donation in front of him then that's his damn problem.  Any reputable TER user on here should know better than to give a bad review b/c of a safe habit.  You don't go to a restaurant and then count the money after they've left, you count it while they're still sitting at the table.

2. A good opportunity is excusing yourself or politely asking me to wash up in the restroom, or even counting it right in front of me.  If I don't like it then I can excuse myself to the restroom.

3.  I prefer not, unless I have a copy of your identification for fraud purposes, unless you're a verified vendor, I refuse to provide a deposit.

4. I think TER could have stricter rules; there's too many guys finding loop holes (fake reviews) which I have caught in the past.  Maybe if TER enforced a rule where reviews can only be written within 5 working days of the ad posted.  If it's a website, then the website needs to show the tour dates; if no tour dates are provided, then no review; guy gets no VIP access, women get no reviews, so effort is required from both sides.  This should mitigate against fake reviews that are being written, if the provider has been around for awhile and active on the boards, she should be able to identify the session she had with that gentlemen, and call out if they're fake or not.

Just a thought, if I also may ad; whitelisting should not be allowed by providers until they've reached at least 15 reviews, with an average rating of 7.0 or higher.  Users with no whitelist honestly shouldn't even be considered for an appointment with the ladies on here, that is up to the provider.  The girls should have access to some kind of regional black book with TER handles, phone numbers and emails.  No user should have multiple handles, that seems like a ban from this site to me, and I think aliases should be banned as well; after all if you have nothing nice to say, you shouldn't say it at all.

Last thought, we're all in this together, we want to have a good time and ladies on here love what they do and have their necessities.  We need to watch each others' backs and not dick one another over and yank each others' chains.  We have bigger things to worry about than whether a woman or a client is a NCNS or if someone is going jip out on donation.  

Just keep in mind gentlemen, if we were being rated by our performance with these ladies; the majority of our prides and self esteems would be completely crushed, keep that in mind next time when you're seeing someone.

I have seen over 50 providers in the DC area and most did not count in front of me.
I had few providers count in front of me. I didn't mind. I was cool with it.
If that makes them feel more comfortable and safe, they should do it. I try to be very understanding.
I never mention this ticky, tacky BS on reviews. These girls have a lot to deal and work with, so be nice to them!

They should count the money. Ask for the donation before each session, excuse yourself and go count in the bathroom and then come back.  I tend to always include some tips, so even better.

People want clarity when it comes to money...count it and address any issues right away.

Count the money right away.  I inadvertently underpaid a well known provider once upon my arrival.  She addressed it right away with me.  I was really embarrassed I corrected the mistake, we laughed about it and we moved on...there is a saying, "Bad news doesn't get better with time".
