I'm curious. Why are so many providers clustered in Tyson's Corner and so few stay in Alexandria or Crystal/Pentagon City?
Traffic at Tysons is always a pain and there's no metro. There are a ton of hotels in Old Town and Crystal City and some are literally within steps of both the blue and the yellow lines! Plus there are a ton of restaurants within walking distance, and out of town providers could metro to their hotel rooms from Regan Airport in minutes.
Travel inconvenience alone cuts my hobbying down by at least a third... maybe by half.
I promise I'm not a member of the Chamber of Commerce! OK, I admit, if a provider were in Old Town, I could walk to see her so I'm being a little selfish but for the reasons above, I still don't understand the appeal of Tysons. Thoughts anyone?
Yeah youre right to wonder and while we are on te subject, what is the attraction of BWI! Talk about being in the middle of nowhere.
Well, heres' the deal..the clientele is just different at Tysons, much less worry about flakes and drunks, especaily at night I was told than the District. Cant speak to Crystal CIty as youre right,,Its close and lots of nice lodging choices there. I suspect Old Town is a little isolated though.
Going further west from Tysons towards Dulles the situation is even improved over Tysons. More affluent more professional clientele.,,um can we just keep this Dulles rumor a secret?..that is a real bad trip for most guys but could explain the success for those girls that visit there..not so much competition maybe?
If Tysons were a city, it would be, based upon office square footage, the #7 city in the US - hence a large number of working folks during the day, business guest in hotels at night - something those other areas do not offer.
Tysons, DC (including Crystal City & Rosslyn), BWI might as well be 100 miles apart. Most guys I talk with do not consider those "commuting" distances for a session.
Things I have heard repeatedly from traveling providers (their impressions, not necessarilly reality): --To much LE in NoVa (Crystal City). I know this was a higher LE risk area a few years back, don't know if it's still true. There are several traviling providers who stay in that area but don't advertize because their time is filled with regulars on every trip. --BWI is a totally different world. They are targeting the Balt. clients and don't see it as a "DC alternative". They will often do BWI AND one of the DC options in a swing through the area.
I've seen increased growth in visiting ladies staying in the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom area as well.
During season like it is now getting a hotel at a reasonable price in Alexandria or Crystal/Pentagon City at a price point which makes a hour incall work is exceedingly difficult. This is why all our DC incalls are 1.5 hour minimums. Even so there are times when we can't get into a hotel on 4 to 12 hours notice for less than $250.00 and not before 4 pm. When may of these hotels are fully booked the night before, they skimp on cleaning staff so good luck getting a room for a 1 pm appointment.
Other area's tend to be more workable not only mathematically, but have higher statistical probability and reliability of getting in at noon or 1 pm.
At least in our case it's a business decision. We offer service in those area's but I really like to see 72 hour notice inside the beltway.
I agree there is nothing to do around BWI, excpet to play and maybe shop at Arundal Mills mall, however being close to the aiport offers lots of lonely business clients.
The other good thing about BWI is the plentiful number of good hotels right around the airport. All the hotels at BWI offer free parking and if you walk in and out like you belong there, no one will question you since there is so much business trafic.
Downtown Baltimore is good for hotels and night life but the parking and trafic is a major issue.
I have always thought that TER should consider Baltimore (including BWI and Towson) as a separate market from DC, they are worlds apart when you consider thngs like traffic. I would never drive from NOVA to BWI for a date or consider a date in DC as being in the same area as a date at BWI. There are just different markets altogether for a variery of reasons.
I love the BWI area, as you can tell by my reviews. It's easy access, no traffic and no hassles so far. The ladies may get bored there but the Inner Harbor and Arundal Mills is a cab ride or shuttle ride away.
I'd like to see more in the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom area because it is right down the street for me. It would be nice if there were more search capability based on incall location. I've done the hike from Alexandria to BWI -and no, it isn't right around the corner but it could be worse.
The Dulles/Herndon/Reston area, particularly close to the airport off Frying Pan Road, is a treasure trove of quality hotels. Easy access off Rt. 28 and/or 267...
City/Pentagon City areas. Crystal City in particular has lots of hotels, is right next to DCA so lots of travelling guys in the hotels, lots of diverse restaurants (Thai, Vietnamese, seafood, steaks (Ruth's Chris & Morton's) Spanish Tapas, etc.), lots of high rise office buildings, right on the Metro, & the underground parking is free after 4:00 and all day on weekends. But one rarely sees providers advertising from there. It's Arlington county (Tyson's is Fairfax) so maybe there's a difference in LE, don't know.
Dreams, Now that's a good answer. Business decisions, I get. I didn't realize hotel prices in Old Town / Crystal City were so much higher. In fact, I'm actually surprised that they are.
Now take the time, as we have to poll and record how many hotels give you a 1 PM and how many actually in "practice" don't! Because you're not in my shoes, here's what you couldn't have known known because reasonably there's no reason too.
You ask for a late checkout, however certain hotels you can still count on house keeping to interrupt. Now if it was your appointment would you enjoy that ?
Next issue, if the request for a hotel is made on Wed for a Thursday appointment that means you more or less can forget about any discount rates even if you use Hotels.com or hotwire. Yes sometimes you get lucky, however "if you can't replicate it dependably, it's a fluke" and do you want to run a business dependent upon flukes ?
Bottom line, in DC unless you get lucky, or willing to use Motel 6 (which is some places in the country they are nice hotels) you're going to take it in the ass with anything less than a three day advance reservation.
Which comes back to why we don't do 1 hour incalls in some areas.
I know that I am an "exception", living locally in the DC Suburbs rather than out-of-town businessman flying into DC, but I do much prefer Tysons or Dulles/Herdon/Reston area over "inside the beltway". I agree with many of the points raised by others, less LE, more hotel flexibility, less costly, less traffic congestion... BWI has many of the same attributes.
Ok, you people have now scared me in coming there. I was searching hotel prices and about fell out my chair! This is my first trip to the east coast and haven't a clue what I am going to do for accommodations and where I should consider staying!
Thank you Dreams for the explanation on the room situation there.
