I suffered a shoulder separation injury on 24 December 2009. I trusted it to Jessie Yum Yum.....

for deep tissue and trigger point therapy to assist in proper healing and to get my range of motion back.

I had better results from her expertise than I had achieved from physical therapy and physician recommended exercises.

Jessie was extremely professional about it and a delight to deal with.

here's an explanation. i'm serious despite the ;-)

my most important medical need is stress reduction. i have a long term chronic illness that is controllable with meds with crappy side effects. i prefer living alone but i need a certain amount of non sexual physical contact. it helps reduce stress MEASURABLY. i need WAY fewer meds. only with a trained massage therapy practitioner who also provides do i get the benefits i seek. here's how it works.

i do love the ladies. so a 200 pound guy named Karl ISN'T going to get the job done. i can tolerate a massage from Karl to fix a bad back but it won't reduce my stress levels or BP. OTOH a "straight" CMT who happens to be an attractive lady will get the job done UNTIL i start thinking about whether or not i can seduce her.

straight hobbying gives only about a 10 point drop in BP. simple massage therapy with a provider is sufficient to double that: a 20 point BP drop. it often costs less than companionship so it is cost effective. keeping the massage therapy and the companioship separate is a very good idea though but i find both options need to be on the table for me to be relaxed and happy.

the ladies mentioned in other posts of this thread are really quite good and well trained. they don't "happen to know massage". they are among the most skilled massage therapist i've encountered.

in addition there are UTR CMTs that provide. don't ask, i'm not telling. why ruin a good thing.

now i realize that there are some cynics out there who will snark away at this. there is a provider (not in my profile) who likes to poke fun at my situation. but that's the story. believe it or not. i don't care, in advance.
