Tricking someone into paying for something is a very mean thing to do. Sales people use human compassion all the time. They reel the customer in, make them look them in the eye, and it now becomes personal. If it's a charity, advertise it as a charity. Discretion can make it hard to decipher what we look like, so there's always a surprise, but there's still an art to making the guy even more pleased to see you in person. The lying and cheating means there's a lack of skill in that area.
It's one thing to be generous, another to walk into and sit down in someone's trap. I get pissed off now when someone pulls the compassion bit with me, but they don't consider my needs or wants.
A car dealer used the whole, "come on, you're going to help me make a good sale, aren't you?" After realizing I was going to keep negotiating. Problem is, he had no consideration for my finances whatsoever. He pulled the compassion card out, and also asked me to do his job. I fell for it at 19 years old, but now I get angry and point out their scam. It's not MY job to make THEIR sale. They're the ones getting paid to do their job. If they want me to help them out with their sale, then pay me.
Sorry, if someone just opens their finances up to any scammer, they won't be helping anybody very soon. Protecting your finances from the unethical people makes more for the ones who are honest and do their job with care. Why not supply honest people instead of scammers, giving them even more power to do bad. Empower the decent workers.
