Personal taste is personal taste.
I hope no lady thinks of things this way - and I doubt that many do, because they get the benefit of visitors themselves - the guys that travel to the area and are looking for fun.

If a visitor who catches my eye will be here in two weeks but just for 3 days, yeah, I'll make an effort to plan well in advance that I don't always do with a local lady.

But honestly, who has the time or energy to worry about that??? There is an appeal to see a visiting lady over a local lady, since the local lady will "always" be there, but if dates and timing doesn't work out with a visiting lady then what? Always a good idea to have a back up, pre-screen with a local lady and let your window of playtime be known, most of us will work with you if we do get a decent heads up for an appointment of at least a day or two. I wouldn't slight any of the local ladies though, there are some great experiences to be had!!!

i unfortunately am in a job that keeps me at very variable hours.  sometimes i only have 24hrs notice that i have to work or not.  

Reading their websites for how to contact or filling out contact forms is hugely appreciated.

I'd say 4+ hours is best for last minute requests, with a time range rather than a dead set time.

I actually don't do same day at all unless someone has already privately requested an incall ahead of time (meaning it was made at least the day before). I personally don't keep a "work" incall at the ready. Sometimes I will put out notice about that incall in various places with the minimum notice I need.  
Pre-screening DEFINITELY helps with "last minute" requests...absofrigginlutely.

...on a beautiful weekend morning and feel amorous, and try to contact some ladies.  I don't EXPECT something to work out with any PARTICULAR lady, but more often than not I do find a nice date for the afternoon.  And those are often the BEST dates, because I KNOW I am feeling great mentally and physically going into it - which is not always the case if I book in advance, especially if on a weeknight with the weariness and stress of work on my mind.

weekends are always more relaxing!!  

About traveling providers and I doubt 99% of other providers haven't, either. Try to understand this: providers do not get jealous of each other.  We do not resent other providers for getting business. Most of us travel at some point. It's understood. We all get how it works. There is plenty of business to go around.  We don't CARE who you spend time with, or who you spend your money on, any more than we care what clothes you buy or where you go out to eat.  You are not our BOYFRIENDS.
