This is hobby related how? I would think the U.S. government would check NCIC prior to employment, & hopefully before any clearence requiering a federal ID. Afterall LE checks NCIC at a traffic stop, don't they?
This is related to hobbying because I'm trying to find out if National Crime Information Center info are cross referenced automatically when issued DOD badge or other federal agency with clearance badges.

Unless you're an idiot, it's obviously related to hobbying. If you can't see the link then I'd begin to question your level of intelligence.
As far as I know, the two databases were not connected last I checked. But I've been out of touch with that particular knowledge so what I know now is outdated. I wasn't looking for a random clueless stab at an answer but a highly specific one from someone who knows this particular technical detail.
I wasn't referring to him as an idiot but only 'asked' if he was.
For example, one obvious scenario: If one suffers the unfortunate event of an arrest, yet knows this one particular bit of info that the two DB are not connected, I'd take the option of not divulging unnecessary info and STFU even though the policy states that one must divulge everything.
On the other hand if the two are connected, one runs out of luck and have some explaining to do to Mr. Security officer.
I like to believe I'm intelegent I'll admit to having a 9th grade education. So educate me on the link, I was saying wouldn't a government agency check NCIC as part of a background check? & wouldn't LE notify your employer if you were charged with a crime? As for as a random cluless stab of an answer, I was going to say don't. Providers screen through NCIC. You need to lighten up... don't be a meany
LE will be all over you if they find out you work for the gov and you have security clearance. You should know that when you sign up for security clearance there are great many things you ‘should’ not do. This is one of them.
It's really just a very specific question. Are the databases connected or not...
I am not sure rhat rhe word "connected" is appropriate but the database is routinely cheked by LE all the yime and would be a tool you would expect an investigator to use.
Heck even somevtypes of private employers can request the FBI to check the database before hiring orvpromoting someone to certsin types of jobs.
Sorry if that is not dirrct enough but it is what we have.
Strictly speaking, they are not connected per se. However, since the clearance process will always include a separate NCIC check as part of the process, it is accurate to say that they are connected "indirectly". Both will be checked.
There is a project to integrate all of these databases. This will happen soon. But, as noted, that will only allow them to do with one step what they are already doing in two or three steps.
