I believe Costa Rica has reopened. Wondering if anyone has travelled there recently. Any advice on place to stay. I’ve heard Del Rey is worn out and I don’t want to stay at a Hilton as I suspect they’re a hassle.

Do some research on Jaco beach.  Some hotels or resorts are very accommodating.  

The Sportmens Lodge is still open, not "wide open" but open nonetheless. I think they are now open from about 10AM-10PM each day with the girls working in shifts. The various MP's downtown are open by and large "if" that's your thing of course, but just like it's been since the new highway to the beach opened up several years ago, by far the best place in Costa Rica is still the Co Cal in Jaco.

 
Yes, if you want to do a lot of work to get laid, and you insist on staying in San Jose there are still plenty of ticas needing money, but if you want anything close to the debauchery that CR is famous for, about your only real choice is the Co Cal right now.
