Hi there,

I'm a Canadian girl who has taken the plunge and made my way to the Big Apple. I just landed this morning and I will be here until Thursday. Can anyone recommend some fun things to that are quintessentially New York? I'm looking for suggestions that are off the beaten path (think jazz bar and good whiskey) and that are walkable through Manhattan.

Thanks in advance!

Vivienne xoxo

It's located on Fifth Ave somewhere in the 20s.

It's really a legitimate museum with very interesting exhibits about sex in all it's wondrous forms across the globe.

The gift shop is not to be missed.

This is now the 100th time you've mentioned the Museum of Sex on TER.  They are awarding you a special pin with oak leaf clusters.  And a Walnetto Bar. LOL.

honestly, the best thing to do is allow yourself to get lost. I've lived in NYC for 13 years and there is so much to see.   You will find the best cafes and wine bars that  way.  A few things worth seeing:  The Brooklyn Bridge,  the 9/11 Memorial, the highline.   If you like Scotch take a trek to the UES and go to Caledonia (83rd and 2nd).  The Ace hotel is a cool, communal spot and great for people watching.    Go to K-town for Korean bbq -Kunjip is good.   The best rooftop is the Peninsula hotel (Salon de Ning).  If you like Jazz -the Carlyle hotel on the UES is low key or you can go to the Blue Note.  If you were here on a Sunday I would say Dim Sum in Chinatown at the Golden Unicorn...best food!
