Suggestions for area(s) to stay in Atlanta?

And of course what areas to avoid. I know there are some areas that are "hot", so any help is greatly appreciated. Atlanta is a short flight from Raleigh and of course nonstop, so I've decided to give it a shot.

Here are a few pretty good "rules of thumb" for Atlanta Steph

Avoid both Cobb and Gwinnett counties because of LE issues, I would also stay clear of downtown and then airport area is a bit sketchy.

The best two areas to host are Buckhead and the Perimeter Mall area just outside the Perimeter in Dunwoody. Both areas are convenient to get to, and have plenty of hotels, restaurants, and of course shopping.

Have fun in Atlanta, I wish I were there to show you around.
