I was hoping to get some advice on hotel locations for a couple days in LA... Was thinking Beverly Hills but not sure if that is that central...

However, you're on the right track. The "Westside" is as good as any area.  Every monger has their preference in LA. Try not to be to far from a freeway.  There are some very nice hotels in Santa Monica. Also take a look at Century City and WeHo both near Beverly Hills. Trying to please all mongers will drive you crazy.  Good luck.
