Yes..I experienced the Fillmore walk tour for credit on a college class. It was really informative. The guide is able to show you other places that aren't typical landmarks and they have interesting stories as well.

Would like to learn a bit more about different districts other than Union Sq and Fishermans Wharf!!

Hello Claire,
A walk (or run) along the Embarcadero, especially during a Saturday morning, is great for people watching.  You'll enjoy a view of both the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge.  There's also a Farmers Market outside the clock tower, featuring produce from around the Bay.

The Marina Greens is a really nice place to bring a blanket, some wine and a basket of food.  The weather in July is sketchy, but if you get a good day, there's nothing like the view of the GG bridge from here.  A few blocks up, on Chestnut Street, you'll find great bars and restaurants.  There is a wine bar that stocks wine from around the world.  I'm sure they would appreciate any recommendations for some good wines from Australia ;-)
