Depending on what you like, there are many things to consider. If you like nature, I would highly recommend Flamingo Gardens in Davie or Vista View Park (which used to be a landfill). If you're into live music calander you can google broward live music calendar, which lists a variety of live music in the area. If you're looking to get your drink on, check out one of the many places along Hollywood Beach, which is a lot nicer than Ft. Lauderdale Beach. There are a lot of great restaurants in the area as well, depending on what you like. It's best to search on Google, since there's so many different types of restaurants. Hope this helps!

This is a cool place. I always go there when I'm on vacation in the area. Great food and drinks. Right on the intercoastal waterway. Their website shows the live music schedule as well.

Just a short drive north of Lauderdale is Delray Beach which is a "civilized" area with many restaurants and bars.  Check out "The Office" bar and restaurant.
