When going to New England area I found that Boston was such a beautiful place to visit.
I have also been to Hartford and Stamford but it wasn't recent and I didn't get a chance to explore the city like I wanted to. This time I'm thinking Hartford might be ideal since it's the capital of Connecticut, I can just imagine the history there!  In fact I'm googling some places to see now.  

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know I am all ears on this

Lol thanks Erin, I'll definitely make note of that. There are a few cities that happened to turn into a Netflix and Chill kind of deal so I guess if it comes down to it and I can't find much in the area that will be the option lol.

I'm not sure what your cup of tea is, but if you're into history, you might like the Mark Twain House (personally I find it boring and I'm a history buff).

If you're looking for food options and nightlife, I highly recommend staying downtown. Parking can be problematic for the gents but it can also weed out the cheapskates and flakes who don't want to go into the city. Some of the nicer options are as Erin said Carbones as well as the Capital Grille, Agave for Mexican, Trumbull Kitchen, and if you like beer.....City Steam has a decent collection. If you stay in a certain location you can walk to most places (downtown area is rather condensed).
