I don't like Bush at all but I'm going to defend him on this because I think it's ridiculous to blame the hurricane on him. I'm pretty sure Bush did not cause the hurricane to form, and I'm pretty sure it was not Bush's responsibility to evacuate the entire city prior to the hurricane. The city of N.O. was responsible for evacuating its own citizens. FEMA is there to *assist* state and local governments. There was a mandatory evacuation order for the city and yes, the poor people got left behind. The smart people, who had cars, fled. The levies failed because they were shoddily built over several decades (not Bush's fault). Don't forget, the hurricane MISSED N.O. and hit Mississippi. But then N.O. flooded. Bush/FEMA is going to magically appear the next day with a thousand buses? And it's a little difficult to drive a bus through 6 feet of water. And there was no gasoline. I predict that if Clinton were president at the time, the exact same disaster would have occured.

I see a state that used the oney given them by the Feds to build levies and used it for god knows what! those people died because of a lack of action from your mayor not Bush.
