As a newbie, I have a question regarding donations to providers.

If a guy isn't interested in a full "tune-up" -- but just wants to "look under the hood" -- is he still expected to make the full donation, or is that negotiable?

If so, what's an appropriate amount?

For full credit, please incorporate an automotive-related euphemism into your response (wink).

Time is money my friend.  If you ask for a date, you should expect to pay the required fee and not negotiate to "look under the hood".  Anything less is unprofessional on your part, and will not be positively received by your provider.

I think I may have been too vague with my original question, so let me ask it more explicitly in case it was misconstrued: if a guy is interested in giving oral to a provider -- but nothing else -- is that negotiable?

I remember reading a post here that suggested the client negotiated this request up front with the provider prior to a date and it sounded like it was an acceptable practice.

Reading The Review is looking under the hood. If you are looking for less expensive there are ladies that have Ads that say $100.00. I would not go to someone use to charging $200.00 and ask if I could pay less. Instead of going to Macy's go to Walmart.

Its not like the dealership where you can kick a tire or go for a free test drive either.  If you go to your favorite mechanic and ask for a lube job rather than a full tune up, he/she will charge you the same hourly labor rate.  Regardless if they have to get on their knees to adjust a pipe or stand and swap plugs, they charge by the hour.  Now most providers have a 1 hour minium charge so if you finish your business early you still pay for the hour.

The only reason I encourage you to haggle is when they have multiple ads in different areas such as Eros, craigslist or even LAxpress.  You will see that they have different rates sometimes listed and go by different names.  Eros ads seem to be the most expensive and craigslist the cheapest.

EVERYTHING in business and in life is negotiable!  I encourage you to call and negotiate whatever, and with whomever, you choose.  
Many girls actually enjoy the negotiation process; some find it insulting.  The only way to find out is to begin the negotiations.  Do it playfully and with a win-win attitude and you will meet with more success and have better relations with the girl.
The rate and the time listed are starting points.  It's not like going into a store and reading price tags.  In fact, they all say one hour, but they really mean until you cum.  Negotiate the real terms of the encounter if it will make you feel more comfortable.  If she doesn't want to negotiate and set up some real parameters, move on politely.

I grew tired of being asked for discounts, Guys were asking if i offered discounts for first timers and others if i charged less for repeat visits, some asked if i charged less for younger clients  because they were better looking and other requested a discount becuse they were older and hotter, some wanted lower fees because they were both virginal or experienced lovers
The request continued, guys asked for discounts because they were students or senior citizens, because it was a week day or a weekend , day or night, short or long sessions.
They even wanted to know if i offerd frecuent flyer miles,gave out coupons etc etc...
Sick of being asked for discounts i decided there was only one thing a smart provider could do....I raised my rates!!!!!

I agree with you, loverofts.  Unless otherwise stated, everything is negotiable.  If it's done in a polite and respectful manner, what is the problem?

In your post above you complained about guys asking for discounts because they are young studs!  That you don't want to see big, hairy, apelike creatures is completely understandable.  It's your absolute right to charge more if you do decide to see such creatures.  
However, as I professed in my earlier post, that is called negotiation; give and take; agreeing to what you will or won't do for a particular person based on whatever parameters YOU decide you are comfortable with.  During the negotiation process you can ask the client about himself.  The simple word, NO, perhaps accompanied with a gracious "sweetie", is all that is needed to turn the hairy, apelike, creature away.  
Independent contractors have to learn to negotiate(and that includes sticking to your rates, come hell or high water, if that is what you believe in), and to treat potential clients with respect.  
Neither party knows what he or she is walking into.  If, when the door opens, there is a hairy, apelike, creature on either side, the other party can respectfully decline to participate (unless it was made clear and agreed to during the negotiation process).  
I think what we are really discussing is the need for open, honest, and respectful communication leading to an agreement that can comfortably be fulfilled by both parties.

If you can "pull it off" more power to you!  Girls like Vaniity and Ivy seem to be able to..  They seem to be in the minority though.  You can always say no..

In the situations you mention, I agree with you.  My experience regarding negotiations is mainly escorts met without benefit of ads stating price.  The whole process starts with negotiation.
