Why do web designers  think using Flash is a requirement for every website even when it serves no useful purpose other than to slow down a site?

hello everyone...I was hoping to get some feedback on the website I designed for TS Kim. The website is www.kimsmassage.com.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey designs; you're very talented!

Thanks cruiser1...I know this is probably the wrong board, but thought I might get some feedback.  I made it for kim as a favor...she just seems to be a very nice tgirl who loves her work.

designs;
    Is there a section of any TG oriented website where you could offer your professional services?  I think many girls who advertise on sites would like their own websites to link to, and a web designer who is friendly to the TG "working girl".

Thats a good idea....I am going look into that.

Nice work. And she deserves it!

I guess it does not RUB me the wrong way!!

first off, not every web designer uses flash. secondly, this particular execution is very elegant and very fast-loading, probably because the designer used his head and kept everything low weight.

thirdly, if you're so ignorant about web design, shut up. and go get a broadband connection, fourthly. or are you still on 8-tracks too?

it never freakin' amazes me, some loudmouth amateur making nonsense comments about technology. "gee, dude, why does some writer always have to use Microsoft Word for document generation? that's what you freakin' sound like, you douche. i see it all the time, which is why im happy to jump on it. the comments, that it.

A few points in my defense.

1. Believe it or not I have joined the 21st century and have a broadband connection.

2.  You don't have to be a web designer to understand and appreciate usability

3.  I have seen very few web sites where the Flash actually adds anything to the utility of the site.  As an example, KIm's website -- what is gained by employing the flash on the home page?  Why not just have the page load up with the navigation buttons.  I can appreciate that a web developer wants to show off his design skills but what's the point of using Flash just because you can?  Kind of like invading Iraq just because you can.

Tusayan;
    Point to consider:  Maybe she preferred it?  It's her website and most likely she had input.

1. i wouldnt deign to compare the moronic and hugely destructive "daddy's war" to anything we're talking about.

2. congratulations on joining the modern age. you can deposit your 8-tracks and bellbottoms **HERE**.

3. then you've seen very few, sites, period. i have to say that i work (and play) in information design and web techologies, and, uh, while you don't need to be a designer to understand usability, you have to understand usability to understand usability. the fact of the matter is that good, usable design is implemented all over Kim's website. I think I'm just absolutely sick of the tired anti-flash bandwagon that a *few* people have jumped on. flash is a very solid technology, has surpassed acrobat in frequency of plugin installation, and is naturally conducive to fast connections. Plus it's engaging. So what's the big EFFING DEAL, man? If you want to talk about design and usability, there are more than a few areas of improvement on the TER site...

3.5 i would say that a "provider's website", which aims to be informative, exciting, and attractive is the perfect place for flash implementation.

4. why the F am I explaining this? go out there and use the web, boy! stop bitching about the good stuff!

5. also, i'd like to bookend this rant with another plea to not compare the designer's decision to something much more horrid and abysmal.

5.5. Have a great day!
