..and talked to 2 customer service reps(for a totally different issue). The one admitted that fake pics are getting through, however they remove them if they are informed of it. I know you and Dog have contacted them before, but is it worth doing repeatedly? Or having a few members (both providers and customers)here do it as well? I just feel well meaning guys are getting swindled and it's not fair to anyone.
You are a true sweetheart, Allison! Yes, I've contacted EROS before, and it does help--some. Mainly, though, I try to expose them here on the board.
I also try to place the name of the provider in the "subject" line of a post because most of the boys do searches only by subject here on TER.
I also save their EROS ad via my Scrapbook add-on for Firefox and write "fake pics" along with their name for easy reference. It also saves all of their contact info as well, making it easier to track them down. They can easily change their name and easily find more fake pics, but buying new phones every month will get expensive and annoying. Plus, they lose whatever clientele they thought they had.
On the other hand, there are some girls who post fake pics and are doing well anyway. The brain capacity of too many males is truly, astonishingly retarded.
Hopefully, we can at least alert the hundreds of people who come to this board every day and turn them on the honest-to-goodness girls like you!
I have a feeling Eros is hearing a lot of this all over and need to figure a way to deal with it. The fact you can edit your own ad might be adding to the problem. However they do need to approve it before they post it. I think that accounts for the "cut and pasting" we see in the texts , font style changes etc.. As for fake pics there was a girl in DC years ago that always used them. However they looked remarkably like her. I don't think I would have realized it if I was a client visiting her. I used to work for an agency here, with Aline for a while, that had a pic I swore was me on their home page. I never sat for it- it was professional. But it truly looked 100% like me- weird. Never found out who it was, lol. Just some stock pic of a GG the owner had found.
Eros needs to go back to the day of verifying photos of the providers...you just need to do it once...your government issued photo id and a non~professional photo holding a piece of paper with your professional name, the date and Eros on it...or at least offer it again to the providers who want it(an up~charge of course)...I am sure a provider with a "Verified Photos" logo on her ad will see an increase in her business if she is attractive enough, since beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the hobbyist will have less anxiety about who or what is really behind the door...dfk, Rachel
Agree but I wonder how much additonal money eros is making when girls post 3-4 ads and change their look, find fake pics to represent themselves, etc. Unfortunately Eros's brand is going south but their revenues are probably growing. That business model can't last forever because clients will find another site with more stringent guidelines for posting FAKE ads.
yeah LATSDog, but there are allot of provider sites that fall to the wayside and Eros is the only game in town that can consistently get the providers and hobbyists to return...many other sites try, but never get enough providers for any given city to draw attention or establish a base...sad, but true...hugs,Rachel
Yea, I know. They are the biggest store in town so have the power. It can fizzle though. It just takes one or two good ideas to change it up and attract more providers. I do see your point though..most sites that tried to get off the ground fizzled in a few months.
...I seem to recall you had to take a pic (like a snap shot) of you holding the pics to be presented to Eros. Neither one of us can remember if we verified our own photos. I just know it wasn't required. I don't mind doing it-it's not a huge hassle. I'm all for them bringing it back. it's been quite a while.
...I checked out one I had gotten this week ( someone had called too-they seemed nice, i can be a sucker at times) but there were too many iffy girls on it. 2 had been talked about really negatively here -one wasn't even based in DC-just a visiting linebacker from few mos back.
I really like Rachel's words on this: the photo verification route with a "Photo Verified" logo would go a long ways with serious clients.
And, Allison's comments are also right-on. The enormity of the Internet provides us with an amazing probability to have look-alikes.
And, Dog is right, too. We need an honest-to-goodness business model that is self-sustaining with integrity. Is it possible? Sure, but what a bunch of start-up costs in advertising, and there would be a need to retain a lawyer, no doubt.
The web coding requirements for such a site makes my head spin. I could do it, but it would be a full-time job to start and to maintain. Major commitment.
Constructing the database as a dynamic CSS alone would be daunting. I know why EROS went to numbers for their page names; it's way easier in a database to manipulate and move items. Personally, I'd stick with the human naming scheme because it's better for the hobby.
So, who wants to join my new site? Ha! Maybe I'd call it MEOW instead.
