What type of questions do providers normally ask.  Is it unusual for a traveling and reputable provider to ask "how much is the normal rate in this area" and "are you a top or bottom"?

I wouldn't expect a provider to ask me the "prevailing rate" ... ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if I was asked top/bottom -- she's just trying to prepare for my needs/desires.

either you ran into an inexperienced provider or one who felt very secure to ask such questions about prevailing rates, just tell her in this town the provider pays the client; as to questions about your preference in sexual positions, that is not unusual as some "girls" only act as bottom and a very few only act as tops, most will shake their money makers in what ever direction you need it shaken, likewise girls on hormones may not always be able to get erect enough to give you a full penetration and therefor they feel more comfortable on the first date only promising what they know they can deliver....
