I think one approved review gets you two weeks of VIP access. Unfortunately, as a non VIP, your review is subject to all kinds of hoop jumping.
Check with TER management to be sure though. They are fickle, but they should respond in 72 hours, less if the nature of the discussion is cash.

Can you gain VIP status by writing reviews. I thought I read somewhere that you could but I can't find it now.

Oh and if so, how many reviews does it take.

Thanks!

Yep, and I think it's two.  (Ha!  I'm a mod, and I can't quite remember.)

However, get ready for an onslaught of complaints here on the board about reviews not being approved.  The TER gods can be fickle. :)

I forgot about the newby forum so I posted the same question there.

I have 40-50 approved reviews thus far, plus another 5 or so unapproved for no good reasons at all, and I submitted 2 new reviews this month.

TER gave me VIP credit for only 1 review - 15 days. They owe another 15 VIP days for the second approved review I submitted. Do you think they'll give it up?

I have another review ready to submit also...

After your first two approved reviews you are eligible for 15 VIP days per approved review. Sometimes they don't approve the review, seemingly to avoid giving VIP credit.

Lets just say I have sent a review twice and to this day I have not seen it posted. so  I gave up trying to post reviews
