I read some of the articles about Diva's in SF. Is there a certain protocol for visiting? I will be in town this month for a convention and I would love to experience it.

Google Divas SF and you will see the website. Its a regular bar with TS girls and their admirers. Just show up.  3-4 levels, some nights are better than others. It actually changes big time night by night based on whats happening.  They have a cover charge in the evenings.  If you want to check it out in full swing, I'd go late around midnight and go to the second or third level.  The bottom is just a dark bar.

Just show up. Latsdog is right, upstairs is where you want to be.
I've also found that some Diva's girls hang out over at the Power Exchange after Diva's closes. Sometimes the Diva girls over at the PE will give free samples if its late and they are horny. OTOH, if you go to PE, there are a few, i say a few, really hot TS that are not working

Can I assume that when I walk in, people will roll their eye's and brand me a "tranny chaser".

No one will "roll their eyes".  Diva's is in the Tenderloin where anything goes.  The only people standing outside of the joint will be the Latin Tgirls offering their wares for sale.

Just act like you would at any other bar.  Go up to the second floor, sit at the bar, order a drink, pay for the drink, tip the bartender, turn to your left or right and strike up a conversation with the lovely ladies.  If you are so inclined, buy her a drink.  Buy the bartender a shot.

If you are there on a Wed or Thurs night check out the dancing girls.  Walk up and tip them.  No reason to be uncomfortable; everyone's there for the same reason -- they are either a Tgirl or someone who loves them.  If one of them strikes your fancy get a lap dance on the fourth floor (just keep it in your pants).

Say hi to Steve the owner.  He'll be the one in the security jacket.  He's a great guy.
