Folks,
I am new to the hobby and had a question. When I called a provider recently, she asked me for an image of drivers license and work id to screen.

Never been asked by a few other providers that I went to. Is this common? Thanks for the help

Absolutely not, too much identify theft potential there not to mention blackmail.  

I still believe that the best option is hitting a known nightclub where you can meet and get to know someone over a drink or two before making a decision. I've never had a bad experience going that route because you have already established a rapport, made a connection, beyond a random cold call. I get that isn't an option in the majority of the country but if you can go that route it usually works out for the best experience.
