Hey everyone, as someone somewhat new to the hobby, my biggest concern/fear is STDs. I'm happy to pay a significant premium for providers are completely clean but how do you go about assessing this? I usually check with them to ask if they are on PrEP and DoxyPEP and have been tested recently. This helps put me at ease.
Of course I understand that there is no way to be sure even if the provider is being 100% honest. I try to choose providers who seem more responsible/upscale but low volume so there is a lower likelihood of them not being honest or having caught anything between their last test and our session. I would like to think that providers take a break if they test positive for something but wouldn't be surprised if many continue through it. How do you guys try to ensure that a provider is clean? I understand that there are no 100%'s in this hobby but it helps to have the probability on your side so I can use your advice. Thanks!
I didnt see anything in this post about actually protecting yourself. You ask if the provider is on prep or dozy. But you should be the one on prep and doxy. These drugs are readily available, protect yourself.
Your best bet is to speak with a doctor. PrEP requires testing every 3 months, not every month, it only works with HIV. While there's different variations, the most common and first way it was prescribed is with a 90 day or 3 month supply. Before each refill you need to test negative for everything, not just HIV. If you test positive for anything you are to treat that before you continue with the medication. The testing cycle every 3 months helps someone stay up to date and informed about any STIs they may have. Doxy-PEp (doxycycline) is usually something you take up to 2-3 days after potential exposure to and STI. This works for several other STIs. There isn't a testing cycle for this although it's often prescribed in addition to PrEP. This is newer and there are daily regimes with it also. Condoms and lube are still among the most common prevention's against STI's. Condoms for obvious reasons with oral sex and penetration. Lube to reduce the amount of tearing in the anal cavity, tears so small not easily seen by the naked eye where bodily fluids can exchange. Providers are not 100% honest but then you and everyone else isn't either. There is no magical formula or a "I'm clean" card that either providers or clients carry, whether they work as an independent or through an agency. RISK IS INVOLVED, you need to learn how much with the various scenarios and figure out any benefit to risk ratio. Speak with a Doctor and learn what you can online, there are all kinds of accurate and helpful info out there.
