Messages on this board are managed poorly. It seems that once a post hits page two it might as well have never existed. Other boards push topics to the top each time a new post hits. Why can't this board be managed the same? There are lots of posts with good dialogue and interaction that come to a screeching halt once it gets pushed to page two. Anyone ever click over to page two? Anyone ever add to a topic once it flips the page? See what I mean ... a waste of time and a waste of information!
No worries about the rant – it is really inconvenient. I’ve complained about this before but don’t expect anything to change – it seems to just be the way it is here on TER.
My suggestion is to view the discussion forum by clicking on the “search messages” button and then clicking on “submit” without entering any search criteria in the “search for” or “author” boxes. This will bring up all posts within the last 30 days in chronological order, most recent first. If you are a frequent visitor you can reduce the day range to a lower number, such as three, and the search results will post much quicker.
If you watch the board this way for awhile you might be pleasantly surprised to learn just how many people do actually post on older threads...
Hi X - I use page 2 (and sometimes p.3), but I second your observation. I've always thought advertisment entries (places like Swedish Harmony as well as independent working gals) and topics with no replies (411's, "has anyone seen?") should be deleted after a week or 2 if nobody posts additional comments. That would help keep threads that the readers actually respond to on page 1 longer.
