Ok, this has nothing to do w/ a ts but wanted opinions. How does this scam work? I know its a scam but not sure how the trick really works....
Here is the deal. Trying to sell a computer online at Craigslist. I get all of these stupid emails saying, your ad says 699 but I'll pay 800 and send it to your paypal account for your troubles. I'd like it mailed to xxxxx via ups 8 day so I can save money and send it to you.
So, thats a scam but I'd not send a thing till my paypal acct had the cash, right? Or is there a way to pull the funds back after the item is on the way to them or received? This one is tricky.....
Here is the scam and this scam is run many ways, they send you a payment in a certified form but the payment is counterfit, it looks perfect, you deposit it send them the money you owe and by the time their payment bounces your payment is received and collected on. then your owe the bank the full amount because your check will bounce
it is sad that there are so many crooks out there, I am forever winning millions in overseas lotteries that only want a few thousand from me to facilitate payment, I know it is an old scam but how many have fallen for it. Keep up the goode work latpup! Did you ever take that bike ride?
MAYBE THEY WILL SAY THAT THE ITEM NEVER ARRIVED AND FILE A CLAIM WITH PAYPAL TO GET THEIR MONEY BACK. MAKE SURE YOU PUT TRACKING AND DEL CONFIRMATION ON THE PACKAGE IF YOU EVER GO THRU WITH IT..THAT WAY AT LEAST YOU ARE COVERED,THEN THEY ARE JUST RIPPING OFF PAYPAL
This is not really related, but its one of the best scams I ever heard. It happened while I was growing up in Australia.
It was illegal to sell porn in the state of New South Wales. But you can sell porn in other states in Australia (like ACT).
So a guy living in ACT puts an ad in a paper in Sydney (which is in New South Wales) to sell 3 porno videos for $50. People from Sydney respond to the ad and pay the $50, by cheque to ASPV Limited.
The guy then writes back and says. "Sorry I see you have a New South Wales address, I can't send you the videos, its illegal. And here is your $50 refund cheque".
BUT the cheque is not sent back by ASPV Limited, its sent by Anal Sex Porno Videos Limited. If you bank the cheque, it is good. But 80% of men that had ordered the tapes decided they'd rather not run that refund cheque through their bank account....
The guy who ran the operation got away with hundreds of thousands of dollars and it was perfectly legal.
