I just recently found out about shilling, which is
" A Shill Thread is a thread that is started with a post that is praise, thanks, or a recommendation for a certain provider for reasons of self-interest, personal benefit, or out of friendship or loyalty. Starting a new thread with a Shill Post is not allowed by TER because such threads are considered extra "advertising" above and beyond what each provider is allowed each week."
It was an innocent post, two words in the subject line, and then a link to her ad. I wasn't doing it out of self-interest, personal benefit, or trying to provide her with extra advertising. I'd just had a chance to meet her, and didn't feel the need to do another review, she has pages of great ones. Still, I felt it was worth mentioning in a post.
What's the difference in writing a positive review on someone, and writing a positive post? Mainly about 20 minutes of my time. Writing a review here is a hassle, and it may or may not get posted.
Too bad shilling is a bad thing, since it seems to be fairly easy to post negative remarks on a provider here without having to write a bad review first to do it.
