Actually my boyfriend Jesse James did it...LOL.

I've always been fascinated with art and a few years back I really started getting into tattoos. I was curious what it would feel like and I definitely wanted something Asian and original. It's somewhat symbolic--the butterflies are for transformation and metamorphosis and the cherry blossoms represent beauty and the evanescence of all life. I want to add more...fish, birds, and even a little Maneki Neko ("lucky cat").  

I met this great artist Mike Ledger in Honolulu who did it. He didn't even trace it or use any flash or anything--just freehand. He has this cool video set up so you can watch what he's doing while he's doing it. I'm still trying to get it finished but our schedules are always clashing. He does all kinds of styles but I think his best work is Asian style tats.

For me it's about enhancing and beautifying the body. Some people love it, some people don't I guess.
