Maybe you’re just pulling our leg but I will assume that it was just a Fruedian slip for you to use “meat” instead of “meet” in your post.  Your handle is also a hoot – “alex ‘need a’” TS I presume?  LOL!  BTW “transsexual” is typically spelled with two s’s not one, but your spelling is quite common and is not considered incorrect.

In the transgender article above there is a reference to Virginia Prince.  If you’ve gotten that far, I recommend that you pursue this link to a well written summary of the life of this remarkable person and the history and development of transsexualism.  Virginia was born male in 1912 and by 1969 was being referred to as a transsexual 'prophet' by a leading psychiatrist of the day who wrote that "transvestism is her creed and its acceptance by the world her mission".  Prince retired from the cause in 1980 and the advent of HIV has eclipsed much of her history.  In addition, many of her positions on transvestism would be viewed as incorrect and/or inappropriate by today’s understandings; however, her lasting contribution was to promote a positive philosophy aimed at encouraging "understanding, self acceptance [and] peace of mind in place of… loneliness, fear and self condemnation”.  In her day, Prince had to promote an acceptable face of transvestism by purging it of anything that might offend, particularly anything sexual… My how times change.
