I know each and every one of us here wants and NEEDS to know this... But,

it's sadly not politically correct to say here and there is really no way to do it since we don't know for SURE....

... how do we know the girls have or don't have... HIV?
... do you think a girl will tell you if you simply ask?
... Would you still see a TS if she told you she was HIV+ using all precautions?

Bottom line....   How do we on this list find out who is +

Reason I ask this is over at HA, there is a thread of "retro" TS's from the 80's and such..... and a lot of the comments about the girls from those days say that this one or that one died of AIDS complications.... scary and sad really.

we don't know and obviously they wouldn't tell us if their intention is to continue working.

i haven't read the thread you are referring to, but if these girls are from the 80's, then i'm sure a lot of them got infected since that was the time when hiv just came up.

it would be interesting to see some current statistics.
can anyone provide this?

if each one of us demanded a current test result, then there would be enough pressure for the girls to offer them and vice versa of course.
it could become a general standard.
some girls actually do that already,
just look at saigon lee's site.

1) You can't know for certain.

2) I would doubt most would confess.  Perhaps some would.  Again you cannot know for certain.

3) I would not see an HIV+ provider even with precautions in place if I had that hypothetical information, thus reinforcing my belief in item two.

4)  See item 1.  You cannot determine who is positive and who is not.

Would asking for proof of HIV status be considered
overstepping the boundaries? Health clinics and doctors can provide written results of STD tests to those that get tested. I would think providers would want something in written form to prove they are free of STD's.

I forgot to answer your questions in the last message posted.

There is no way of knowing if a provider is HIV+ unless the person chooses to disclose this information to you.

I personally think most of the providers that are HIV+ will not reveal their status to clients. If word got out of a provider being HIV+ it would have an adverse effect on their business. Think about it, most providers depend on escorting as there main or only source of income.

I personally would not see a provider if I found out she was HIV+.

As someone who's loved men since I was 11... and who was living in Key West in the early 1980's when HIV became known maybe I can offer some insight.  KW along with New York and SF was pretty much ground zero.  Everyone was pretty much sleeping with everyone else and nobody heard of condoms.  And that's all it took to create an epidemic.  Why I lucked out I don't know.

The only 99% sure thing as we all should know by now, is to use protection and know who you are playing with.

And while this may be cruel or discriminatory to say I hope NOBODY is having elective sex with anyone they know is hiv pos.

How do you find out?  A responsible provider will have a documented recent test she can show you.  I personally test monthly.  To do adult video work as we do, you are required to have a current test not over 30 days old.

Ideally everyone who is sexually active with multiple partners should test regularly.  But I have NEVER encountered a hobbyist who could show proof.

What SHOULD be done is the rapid tests should be made available to anyone, preferably for free or a couple of dollars.  People could test prior to intimacy and I believe it would cut hiv transmission substancially.

But the government won't do this.  They say there would be false readings if an untrained person did the test.  Oh Pleeeeeze...  I've had 50 of these tests done - you prick your finger, stick the thing in the solution  and wait.  The test could save lives - but that would hurt the pharmacudical companies userous profits for anti-virals.

Making hiv profolactic medicne available to sex workers would also help, but they won't do it.  Afraid of creating drug resistant strains of stds.  Well I got news for the morons - they already HAVE drug resistant strains...

Plus they make getting tested a huge hassel.  In San Diego the clinics don't like to test you for hiv more than every 3-6 months, so we have to rotate through several clinics.  The last time I tested it took several hours - 40 minutes of which were BS'ing with the hiv counselor about safe sex.  Like if I haven't learned how by now...

The main clinic we used - the one that serviced most of the ts providers in San Diego, has stopped providing documentation in another brilliant bureaucratic move by the morons in charge.

The only alternative to various free clinics is going to private sevices and paying a LOT of $$ - like $140 for an std panel.  Most sex workers are not going to have sex with someone in order to earn money to get tested for std's.

A lot of female providers use Planned Parenthood for testing, but they get all "wierded out" when a TS shows up.  Like we are invading their womanhood or something.

I personally try to be responsible, to protect my partner, myself and my friends.  But many girls, especially street girls are not in a position to deal with the bullsh**t - so they just say "screw it" and give up.

But it's not all bad news.  In general professional providers (as opposed to street girls) are dating primarily straight, married guys, so while there is risk of course, it's not that much higher than for genetic female providers.

If you gents will stay out of gay bathhouses, use condoms, don't swallow (either way) and if everyone could get tested regularly life would be a lot safer.

Just my opinion - have fun, play safe.

Hugs,
TS Jamie

Just like providers work while knowingly pos, horny people will still fuck others while knowingly pos.  The most effective way to deal with the problem is to promote individual responsibility and self protection.  Money spent on mass testing is better spent on research to find vaccines or ways to breed in self destructive genes to the HIV virus.

Testing is useful only for determination of disease state, not disease control per se.

The girls probably ask themselves the same question about every client that walks through the door.
