I am a white straght male who is very curious, I thought I would be best of both worlds to try this, but I am very new and do know the lingo... what is passable and is there a place I can get the lingo?????

I am not rs2k, should I be, if you use email contact, can it be some generic account and *gulp* do I send an email from my work addy???

...there’s a “FAQ for Newbies” board here on TER that will help with some of the jargon – do a search there and here for terms you don’t understand – they’ll become pretty obvious in context.  Alternatively use “acronyms” or “abbreviations” in your search criteria on this and other forums and you should find some useful links/results.  For example, “passable” is a genetic male (such as a TV/TS) who is able to ‘pass’ as female (FYI genetic girls are GG’s).  There is no substitute for good research - always do your homework.

If you are thinking about rs2k for screening purposes to see TS – that is probably totally unnecessary but since there may be a specific geographic reason to do this I’ll invite someone else to comment.

NEVER use your work email addy NOR your work computer for that matter either!!!  Big brother is indeed watching – count on it.  Remember your home computer also records everything you do – websites visited, etc., so good “cleaner” and “spyware” programs are also recommended, but you will probably never get everything.  Your computer’s individual ip address is available in every email you send and every website visit you make – how else do you think the system knows where to send the information you have requested?  Your cell phone records all the calls you make and although those can be deleted from the phone itself your cell phone company keeps a record of all your calls.  If that’s not enough, you probably won’t get your calls answered if you suppress your caller id information when making a call to any escort/provider.  Getting one of those disposable or prepaid phones won’t help much either because you have to present an id to get one but it will keep the calls off your personal cell phone.  BTW if your cell phone is provided by your employer who do you think ‘owns’ those phone records?  Have you read about the recent Washington D.C. escort service scandal?  More than one career has already gone down the tubes thanks to the phone records.

Your GPS in your car records where you’ve been, your cell phone/OnStar system can tell someone where you are/have been, if you use a transponder for your convenience on toll roads, the toll road authority records where you have been and when, much like the phone company keeps a record of every call.  Every hotel and most apartment complexes use security cameras at their entrances and in their parking lots.  Every ATM, credit card transaction for getting cash, buying gas, paying a parking fee... well you get the idea.  There is very little real anonymity anymore in today’s world and it is decreasing all the time.

You have to draw your own line about acceptable levels of risk in this ‘hobby’ (whether GG or TS).  Risks include physical health and safety, being ‘outed’ at work and/or among family and friends, or even stalked/blackmailed by unscrupulous escorts, agencies, providers, other hobbyists, etc.  All these efforts at obscuring your identity are prudent from the point of view of your own personal safety but you can also appreciate the point of view of the provider.  Shame on us all if we are hiding our activity from our significant others but this is a call we can only each make individually.  

This is a highly ironic hobby indeed because it is full of deceit but it also cannot function without a fairly high degree of trust.

And as many have said before, I'll say once again for the new guys.

Do your homework.  And "in general..."  If a girl is on Carigslist and no place else, watch your wallet.  Better quality girls have a paid ad on Eros.com, they will have a review history here on TER (that's the first place to go) and most pros will have a web site of some sort, and will not be changing their name more often than their socks.

And probably 90% of the guys who date TS's identify as straight, and curiosity is part of the human condition, so explore as much as your wallet will allow!
