Our kitty passed away today.  Sigh.  He was 16, which is a pretty good age for a cat.

He was with me longer than any of my relationships with people have ever lasted.  We will miss him.

Sad sigh,
TS Jamie :-)

Ick.  Sorry to hear the news.  Always sad when a beloved pet passes, especially one that has been with someone that long.  I'm sure he had long happy life with you.

very sorry baby - there's nothing worse - but they're all wonderful, and lots that need a good home.

animals are the best, having been through similar situation the best way to grieve is to find another little cat and welcome into the love you have to share. there are a lot of kitties waiting to be adopted, please consider this solution. all the best in this difficult time

sorry for your loss jamie, what you said made me think of myself, i have a horse that 31 years old and in poor health now but he out lasted 2 wifes and 1 girlfreind,
and never cost me as much either, lol

This one is for you:

The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Sorry to hear, girl.

I hope you still have a happy holiday.

Aloha,

Brooke

Hey, thanks everyone for your nice messages.  That was really sweet.

I know posting about one's kitty isn't really the theme of the board... but I appreciate your indulgence.

I'll miss our kitty. But tonight Jessica and I were up at Fashion Island (a shopping mall near where we live) having dinner.  Afterward we walked through the mall back to the car.  The stores were all closed and everyone had gone home for Christmas eve.

We passed the darkened pet store, and there frolicking in the window were three little Christmas kittens that nobody had taken home.  We debated for a moment whether we should "rescue" them, but lacking a crowbar or the desire to spend Christmas in jail for cat napping.  We played "fingers on the glass" for awhile and watched one attack the others tail.

So as one life ends another begins, and hopefully those kittens will enjoy long lives with loving families.

Hugs to everyone - Merry Christmas.
TS Jamie :-)

I am so sorry for the pain of separation from a loved one, but am so glad for all the wonderful years of joy you had with him.

Cats and dogs are special little critters, and there's nothing like the peaceful feeling of petting one.  They are sweet things.

I feel that seeing the kittens through a glass window was a bit of a downer.  Maybe you felt a little separated.  Rather, think that it was a bit of dream full of potential.  There were three Christmas kittens, right?  They were you, Jessica, and the new kitty you will choose--all playing together.

Choosing a new kitty will be quite the adventure as a kitten is so full of energy with its great big eyes learning all about life.

Hugs to you and Jessica. :)
