I know only because years back, my sex drive was so high it drove my thinking and often poor judgement. Glad I survived, grew out of it, and have lost the desire to venture into places that are not safe, etc.
Thinking back, it was a "Buffalo" move 
Ha.......The hotel and the surrounding ones were very raunchy.....run down rooms w/ community baths down the hall. If you wanted to see a provider staying there, you had to tip the little indian dude smelling of curry behind the bullet proof window coming and going or you could not get in the metal security door or leave
The only room service offered at this hotel was from the resident tweaker. Again, glad I survived. One time, while living there, I took a taxi and asked to be dropped off at the corner by this hotel. The guy said no, would not stop and took me to the next block. I myself never had any problems in SF but think I was just lucky.
