A week of so ago some high ranking members of the Jaliso New Generation Cartel (JNGC) or in Spainish Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJGN) were arrested in Baja California.  This cartel is known for extreme violence.

Last Saturday (August 13, 2022) the CJNG stopped a number of busses, taxi de reutas, and taxis forcing the passengers to exit and  setting the vehicles on fire in Tijuana, Roarito, GDL, and othe places where the cartel is active.

AMLO, the Mexican president, once caved to similar tactics relasing a high level cartel member.  This time federal, state, and local authorities appear to be standing firm against the demands.  As I post above 3,000 national guard members have been deployed in Tijuana.  The JNGC had announced their plan to burn vehicles on both Saturday and Sunday, but none were burned on Sunday.  (That may or may not be the result of the prompt, massive deployment of state and local law enforcement and military forces.)

In Tijuana many places closed or closed early on Saturday and Sunday.  Traffic was very light as many people stayed home--or couldn't leave because public transportation ceased to operate.  (A few Ubers worked, but charged tripple rates.)   US consulate workers have been told to shelter in place until further notice.

City authorities shut down the Zona bars and the alley later Saturday evening and the selection in the Zona was sparce     before it shut down.  Escort agencies closed or cancelled many dates because their escorts couldn't obtain transportation.

The cartel has threatend to do the same this coming weekend if their leaders are not relased.

My Mexican friends plan on resuming life as usual on weekdays this coming week.  It remains to be seen if there will be more violence this coming week and if public transportation will cease opperating out of fear of a repeat of last weekend's violence.  Especially since some reports say the cartels have trethened to kill the passanger in the vehicles they are threateing to burn this coming weekend.

Personally, I am not afraid  to venture out on foot and in my car. (I have a home in Tijuana). However, I don't think it's great time to for mongers to visit Tijuana as many bars, restaurants, etc.  may close like they did last weekend.  Even if the bars and alley are open my best guess is the selection will be limited.

It would appear things are back to normal as there was no violence this past weekend.  I was out using my own car (visiting friends) and noticed traffic was lighter than normal.  So I assume some people stayed home...just in case.

I did not go to the Zona.  So I can't report on how well staffed the bars and the alley were.  However, it is likely that this coming weekend the supply of sexoservadoras will be normal.
