Traveling Porn Star

I messaged a POT on Seeking last week. We quickly exchanged numbers to move offline. After we started texting, she told me she is a port star traveling in the DC area for two weeks (that's why she is listed in the DC area). She gave me her screen name and I looked her up. She has a bunch of porn videos that look hot and nasty (definitely PSE). I then asked her how much she charges. She told me 800 for 2 hours and 300 upfront. 800 is very fair if it's her. I am always suspicious about deposits. Plus, she might be a scammer impersonating the porn star. I am thinking about asking her to do a video call to make sure she is real. What do you guys think?

Deposits are to be avoided. You have no guarantees.
Plus.. this is not really sugar.  The whole idea of sugar is that you meet andfigure compatibility so that's not happening here.
I'll steer clear of the idea of deposits for pros and escorts but that's where the discussion belongs.

I concur with your own suggestion to verify ID.  You could still lose the 300.  I guess it's like betting the horses.  Some times you lose.  Is the potential win worth the risk?  Only you can answer that.

I won't address the "Is this an escort date or a sugar date" question. IF she is legit, I have found that an initial escort date can be a viable path to flipping to a sugar arrangement.

But is she real?  There is a nice little cottage industry in fake Porn Stars.  It starts with multiple fake social media accounts, then fake escort ads, and then fake tour schedules. I have been taken by these scammers in the past.  They have the stars real, latest pics, stolen from the legit SM accounts. They have the real fan website link, model agency name, even OF and TER links. Even the account name is VERY close to the real name, so a casual glance may not reveal the truth. Example: If her IG or Twitter (X) account name is  "AsiannSlutXXX"  the fake name could be  "AsianSluttXXX".  They may do the same with an email address:  use the correct first part "asiannslutxxx@"  but then change the last part from @protonmial.com to @google.com.

How to sleuth out the fakes?
1. Start by verifying the account names and such. If she has a TER review, or other LEGIT ads, check the contact info in the review/ads to the info you are using.
2. Try to verify her travel schedule. Does her escort agency, talent agency, or IG account include her travel dates?  If she's already on the road, do her current post locations align with her travel?
3. If you want to risk a deposit, check the transfer credentials she provides? Many services will reveal the true account name before you confirm the payment. An example: I THOUGHT I was booking an hour with Elsa Jean in Los Angeles. But when she sent me a PayPal link, I was able to see the account belonged to someone named Jenny. I looked up Elsa's real name and it's not Jenny. When I reviewed the info I had used to contact her, I realized she was using slightly altered Twitter and email account names.
4. Finally, yes, video chat will help! However, its far too easy for a scammer to foil that by trying to charge for that call! (My time is valuable! I get too many time wasters! etc.)

This is, sadly, an art meets science game for now.

Were I in your shoes (which is not exactly what you asked), I would pass. Why? Loss aversion.

Loss aversion manifests when you realize the pain of losing a $20 bill is stronger than the joy of finding an unexpected $20 bill in your pants pocket. I can't stand the idea of being ripped off and thus the frequent advice to never pay a "deposit" resonates with me.

At this moment I'm *feeling* the pain from years ago when a 20yo luscious tart grabbed my cash, left the room, and pranced down the hallway calling, "I've got your money now!" I'm only *remembering* the very few times a cutie told me to keep the allowance but promise to see her again.

I simply won't advance money for a new girl, ever. But that's because my loss aversion is strong. Not everyone has the same loss aversion. For some, rolling the dice is part of the appeal. If pornstargirl is your dream girl, it might be worth the gamble. But I'd still do everything possible to verify that's she's legit and trustworthy. Definitely do the video call, but be ready to lose the deposit. The $300 deposit is your table stakes.

(I'm frequently in DC; I should check her out. :)  ;)

Several months ago I replied to a SB posting in my local area who looked very recognizable.  I asked her if she was actually porn star Piper Perri and she said yes, and sent me some pics.  She claimed to be in my town for a wedding and wanted to arrange a date.  Same story:  $600 for 2 hours with a $300 advance deposit.  I sent her the deposit via cashapp and went to her hotel at the appointed time.  Then she claimed she never got it, so I resent the $300.  She claimed she never got that either and that I was trying to rip her off.  Whaaat??  She claimed cashapp had taken money out of her account!  Obvious nonsense.  I went home feeling disappointed and very stupid.  I checked my bank account online and both $300 charges went through to cashapp, so I def paid her, not the opposite.  I filed a fraud report with the bank, and to my surprise, they accepted my report and restored the $600 to my account.  So it was a very upsetting experience, but wound up costing me $0 out of pocket.  Herb says the traveling porn star scam is a common one these days.  He's right.  Unless she agreed to meet you for coffee, for free, to verify her identity, I'd stay far, far away!

Why not ask her to hop on a 5 minute video call?  Verify who she is, flirt a bit.

I received a message from an Instagram account claiming to be Angelina Valentine.  Said she was in the area (Orlando) for a photo shoot. Quoted $500 an hour with half as a deposit.  Said she would come to my place which is over a hour away. Sounded too good to be true so I passed. Received a profane response when I didn’t pay the deposit, so maybe it was her! I also was wary because of some of the negative reviews of her.

Trying to shame a (presumably simp-ish) guy is a prime tool of scammers. They use it as an end-game tactic in the hopes that a simp will want to avoid her anger in fear that she will deny him.

"Now I'm mad so you will never get access to my sweet pussy!" The simp, fearing he will ruin his opportunity will pay up hoping he can placate her ire.  But, as you must know, he never had an opportunity at all.

But an observation: Your post implies you got an unsolicited message from "her" as opposed to a response to your initial message. If that is the case, it's a huge red flag.  Escorts, IG models, porn stars, or any combination of these do not make "cold calls" to random followers.  The only possible exception to that might be porn star "fuck a fan" offers. But even those are mostly staged with porn industry members. And any legit FAF offer will typically include required test results, a signed model release, and other terms.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Especially thanks to Herbcat who did some research and found out she is not on the porn escorts list. Maybe she just started escorting so she is not on the list yet, but why take the chance? Even if she is a real porn star, she can still scam me. I am just very leery of deposits. Plus, as Sacramouche pointed out, this is a one-time hookup with a traveling porn star, not real sugar dating with a civy girl.

I met one in person for BCD fun. Christy Love. Was fun but limited menu for the cost. I was also contacted by a lady claiming to be Nivole Doshi. Amazingly she just happened to be in my town for a photo shoot. Lol. Wanted the deposit scam. Pass.

For openers, a decent porn star wouldn’t be $600 for two hours! Second, the deposit scam is a red flag. Third. If she has reviews you could check with recent reviewers that you determine are legitimate to see if they made a deposit. I once made a $100 deposit, but the girl had 30+ good reviews and I checked with several reviewers that I trusted who had also made deposits. They had no problem, so I moved forward. Hot session followed by repeats!
