As I grow older (52) I seem to have a problem reaching orgasm, NOT erection, that comes readily, but, well I run out of steam before orgasm.

Not to say I can't preform, but after 10 min or so of vigergous action, I'm ready to take a break.

I realise I'm not in top phy condition, but sheesh!

I assume this is a mental problem, am I wrong?

If you're "running out of steam" after some "vigorous action," it doesn't seem to me that it's an emotional problem, unless you think the whole experience is a downer.

Yes, most definitely your physical condition has something to do with it. It is a well-known fact that aging is one of the first things affecting sexual stamina(just think about the difference between 20 and 40 in terms of frequency of ejaculation, refractory period, etc.)

My suggestion to you is to see the doc and have a cardiac stress test before you begin to blame your brain for "a mental problem." Run on a treadmill with electrodes strapped to your chest and see what happens. Having sex is not like running a marathon, but for someone who is even slightly physically out of shape, believe me, that person will feel it!

Get a physical checkup please and then let's talk...

Buy a bike or a dog. Another good exercise that is really low impact but highly aerobic is swimming. It also lets you work on that gnarly tan.

Sometimes it's harder/longer for me to cum in my 2nd cup. Then I just use a more relaxed position (e.g. sideway doggie) and pace myself.  Only switch gear to faster action when I am almost there.

One of the other issues re: health could be if you're diabetic, that can really screw up orgasms.  The better sugar control is the better the big O.  Other medical conditions could effect it as well, best advice, talk to MD before asking for any specific tests.

It seems the longer I go the less chance I have of finishing other than by hj.  This is frustrating because I enjoy the bangin but don't want to stop too soon.  Tried to do a 2 pop the other day but it was not possible.....even with an bbbjhj combo.   BTW I'm in pretty good shape.

None of the above is necessarily bad advice but LG hit the nail on the head. Go see a doctor.  I am about your age and there are a variety of health conditions that could be effecting you right now. Honestly, I wouldn't suggest increasing physical activity until you are checked out.

In many regards being in your fifties is not "old" but your body is trying to tell you something and our age bracket is when a lot of the stuff that slows us down starts to kick-in.  Don't ignore what your body is trying to tell you.

Everyone who suggested a visit to a physician is absolutely correct.  Do that right away.  Lay everything out.  If the physician does not do a full work up to include a cardiac stress test (hopefully an echo stress test or a nuclear stress test as a simple exercise EKG will miss some things)see another physician. Everything will most likely be negative and you can then focus on exercise etc.

I also hold out a long time and have a long series of mini orgasms along the way.  At the end I am backed up and somewhat desensitized so it takes so vigorous BBBJ/HJ action for me to finish.  I find no problem with this and do really enjoy this.  The release is really quite extreme and so much better than 3 quick releases.  It leaves you completely drained and so relaxed.  Agree with importance of seeing an MD and checking Cardio Stress and Blood Sugar.  Also keep in mind that 10 minutes of vigorous activity if it really is 10 minutes is like running a mile and will tire you out.

I agree with LG and the others who have suggested seeing a Dr. for a good physical. I am 65 but, still in much better shape than the average guy my age. About a year ago I thought I had a heart condition. I had a chest xray, EKG, Stress/Echo and something I believe they called a CRT scan, Dr. Joe would know if I hit that one right. The ticker came out fine. The point of all this! I have the same problem you do, after a short time of vigerous activity I'm shot. Knowing that my heart is good I have been working on my Cardio/Vascular conditioning and it is beginning to pay off.

I might suggest that you do as I do a good deal of the time. Of course this may or may not work for you. Schedule your sessions for the morning. You will be wide awake and fresh. I love my morning sex.

The other thing to look at is your medications. Some of the antidepressants will cause ejaculatory dysfunction (ie, you can get it up but you can't ejaculate). These antidepressants are in clinical trials now for treatment of premature ejaculation. Some other medications can also cause this problem.

This could also just be age related. As guys get older, it becomes harder for some to reach orgasm. It could be fitness (or lack therof). But if you are getting short of breath or having chest tightness/discomfort with sex, you should definitely see your doc for a stress test. The poor man's version is what Jack Nicholson did in Something's Gotta Give: see if you can climb 2 flights of stairs without stopping. If you can, you're fit enough for sex.

I have had the same problem myself for the last 5 years. It just gets harder and harder to come with my girlfriend who turns me on very much and is good in bed.  I end up having to fake an O almost all of the time.  I really am embarrased that I can't seem to do it anymore. I can by myself by the way. This is frustrating but the rest of the sex is really quite enjoyable.

I am 59 have no medical problems and work out all the time.  I get complete physicals and everything is good.
