I have a fairly large network on LinkedIn, over 1,500 connections. I see 2 or 3 connection requests a month from supposedly 30-ish Asian women who say they live in the US and Hong Kong. The pitch is right out of the Pig Butcher script.
What is somewhat new, is the occurrence of stolen profiles being used. A little review of these profiles reveals a 30-ish professional with 20 years of work experience and recommendations from former colleagues. The problem with the recommendations is they name the person they are recommending, which is different than the current name on the profile.
Fortunately, the same Spidey Senses that help me on Seeking serve me well on LinkedIn as well.
