The Erotic Highway

There really is a city called California in California.

... but it's 110 miles north of Los Angeles.

I used to think this happened when a new POT did not have a premium account. But that was not correct.

Now I think these are indeed scammers who are probably outside the US.  Los Angeles is huge, and has many large neighborhoods scattered across its 502 square miles of land. I always ask POTs who list their location as Los Angeles if they are near me in my neighborhood. Far too many say something like "Yes, I am in LA. Very close." Pressing for details typically reveals that 1) they are at least 20 miles away - a 1-2 hr. drive, and 2) they have no idea where I am or where they say they are because on Google maps, the distance from Lawndale to Van Nuys looks negligible. It's over 25 miles and during rush hour, a 70-90-minute drive. That's the kind of hell that only Papa Sweet must sadly endure. Imagine how many 18-35-year-old hotties you will pass while driving that far...?

Not a new thing. And honestly, it makes me wonder why they even try. Just like when a POT from another sate favorites my profile or messages me.  Does she really think I'm going to fly to her in Wisconsin, or worse send her a ticket to fly to me so we can have a coffee date and then decide if we will go BCD?

I've received myriad messages and favorites from chicks whose location is a town named after a state. Have you noticed this?

Examples: Delaware, Ohio. Florida, Massachusetts. Virginia, Washington. Wyoming, Michigan.

I started noticing this 3-4 months ago. I don't think I've responded to any of them because their profiles seem scammy. Most of these so-named towns are quite small and nowhere near the cities in my profile.

Assuming I'm right about the scamminess of these profiles, I wonder why scammers would choose such towns as their fake locations. Do they somehow think it makes them seem more real? What would be the advantage to them?

P. S. See this scary Wall Street Journal report on people enslaved to scam people under romantic pretenses. The print version mentions "pig butchering," with which I assume we are all familiar. Search for "Enslaved in Asia to scam strangers."

I'm getting those too, like this morning I got favorited by someone in "Arizona, Nebraska".  As if!  I think it's some very obvious kind of a scam and see it a an immediate red flag.  But here's an even weirder similar one:  For the last several months I've been seeing many new profiles in my search results pop up who claim to be located in a tiny subdivision on the outskirts of a tiny Native American village located on a vast reservation about 100 miles from me.  The total population of this village is 655,  all of whom are Native Americans, so I know it does not include dozens of beautiful blonde SBs!  What are they thinking!

There is a Delaware, Ohio, a fairly affluent suburb north of Columbus, and a Wyoming, Michigan which is near Grand Rapids. Doesn't mean the profiles are legit, but a little research can help sometimes. In my area I easily flag scammers because there are an inordinate number of profiles from very small rural townships outside my city. Highly unlikely there are dozen or more legit SBs from these tiny areas.

I did bite on a few of these California City ones a few times but they were scammers. One of them wanted me to contact them on WhatsApp which is always a sure sign of scam for me, I've not had one WhatsApp or alternative method of contact request turn out to be legitimate. I finally convinced one of these California City 'girls' to do a voice call and she dodged doign a call for a week and then when I called her she spoke zero English and I could hear it was a call center I think it was in Asia. Usually these scammer profiles are fake and just want my phone number and then after that they ghost if I text, but not long after that I'll start getting spam texts from numbers I don't recognize trying to rope a dope. 'Hi dear, I saw you in my address book, do you want to meet?' 'Hello, are you into bitcoin investment?' 'Help! I'm stranded but I want to meet you!' etc. The scams have increased in recent months, it seems like even 'verified' profiles that have been active a while are turning out to be scams or ghosts. The new profiles are almost always fake if the girl is super hot or even reasonably attractive. Backgrounds in the photos are usually in Europe. I run photo checks but never find matches.  It's getting tough to find anyone that's legitimate on SA.
